Redoing the En Suite

floor should be first, theory is that should you have water run down the tiles it doesnt go under the floor but hopefully out onto the floor
Yes but most tilers usually do walls first up from a batten, then floor then last row of tiles onto floor. You never tiles straight from the floor anyway because it's never dead level, same with full tile into a corner. Best avoided.

The risk in my mind is that I'm not confident enough that I would have all of the lines matching up as I've never done the same tile/pattern from floor to wall.
It shouldn't be an issue, but even floor first you'll still have to plan it so your hexagons all line up but you arent left with odd cuts on the wall.

Next head scratcher...
How do I connect the waste to the stack? The old toilet was using a flexible bellow type which I'd rather steer away from if possible

No, it hits the leg which seems completely daft...
I'm wondering if there's a spacer from screwfix that would push that pipe back 50mm or so, then as you say, I could rotate it to 45°

Failing that, it looks like a 90° off the vertical to take it to the right then another 90° to the stack but I don't like the idea too much.

Guess it depends, Abacus bathrooms for one say you should do walls first so the water would run onto the tiles then into the drain.

I've found a suitable bend from the old toilet that will work. Still requires the use of bellows, but the old setup used them for years with no issues.
I've just made it the same height as the other toilets in the house. About 17.5" to the rim by the time the flooring is down.

You don't want to reuse any old pipe with old rubber seals etc, better to replace as they are cheap anyway.

You can see by the frame legs he hasn't raised it much and the outlet/flush are at set positions. Looks fine to me considering the tiles etc will raise floor height. The instructions will give a ballpark figure in which the centre of the outlet should sit, as long as its near that it'll be good. 'Comfort height' toilets are also a thing.

i was looking at the height of that pipe outlet in particular
Looks too high for a toilet to me,might just be my eyes ;)

Thanks for your input all, hugely appreciated :)
So I have a spacer piece on order, it's a Vitra cistern, so that should be here tomorrow.
In the mean time I got everything plumbed in to test, the cistern is passing though...

Check the video.

So that's cheered me up hugely! I can't seem to get access inside to see if it's just a rubber washer not sat right or something.

Andarial, I don't quite agree, it's far more important to have the seat at a height that suits my gangly frame and my not so gangly Mrs equally, which google suggests is between 17-19" and our experimentation with blocks of wood confirms that. the other toilets in our house have received no complaints RE their height :D
This only works if you have the freedom to move the waste height like I currently do.

Ha ha, yeah, I found that out!
Ran a few flushes through to see if somehow that'd settle the seal but it hasn't.

Just took everything apart, and reinstalled. Now it holds back all but the odd drip every 30 seconds or so. I guess, with the weight of the full cistern on the seal it is sealing better...
At least it is all accessible through the flush plate should it be a problem down the line.
