Redundant after 27 years

That's a real shame. Stoke really is becoming a black-hole for employment.

If you need some work for a few months until you find the right job then I'll find you something at OcUK.

Truly a top bloke.

Bad stuff, all you can do is stay positive and see what else you could do. My friends dad got laid off after some 30 years or something (all his life he worked for them), he was gutted but I think he got some sort of new job.

Harsh, hope it works out for you in the end.

That's generous :)

So DM may be Spies new tea bouy at ocuk HQ :p

Sorry to hear about your job... Hopefully something good will come out of this somehow!

That is very harsh, but you have done well in having your mortgage and such payed off already, so it gives you a little bit more time in finding something to suit than other people at the workplace :)
I couldn't believe it when i read Spie's post tho, thats a top offer there, very generous :)

Sorry to hear that, I was made redundant after working at the same place for 8 years and that was bad enough!

Meh, its happening left, right and center where I work (Wedgwood, Barlaston).

I've just come to accept that Stoke-On-Trent is a moneyless hole. I narrowly missed redundancy two weeks ago. Three people, one role, I scraped staying, although I'm not sure if staying was "winning" or not.

We went through three rounds of redundancies then no payrise for two years. I stayed but it felt like it had it's heart cut out and it took a long time for a good vibe to regenerate and get the business moving again and we've been doing pretty well from last year's figures - this year has the posibility to really be something. I've been there 10 years.

I hope it all goes well in locating a new job. Kudos to Spie.

thats amazing , people as kind as you spie are extremely rare in these days

Unlucky DM. I'm just about to leave my job after 12 years, and it's a very daunting thing trying to find a new job. But it gets better, and I'm finding it strangely exciting now.

Best to look at it as a fresh start mate! It may be a blessing in disguise. ;)
