Hey all

got a bit of a problem, i havent got a clue how to reformat my samsung hard drive back to factory settings, i have windows vista ultimate x86 (32 bit) and ive tryed many of ways with the vista boot disk but its just keeps moving my files into a "old" folders

im wanting to completely wipe everything off me HD,my pc has suddenly over last 4 days as come from being stupidly lightening fast to patheticly slow to say what spec the PC is, programs and opening things up is mainly the trouble we slowness and i tryed doing a defrag but after leaving it on all night and next day and coming back from work to see its still defragging i guessed there was something up we it, ive checked google and samsung site but nothing helped

and one other little question, does anybody know how to get maxtor external HD's working of vista, so i can back up data if any1 enlightens me on the reformatting

thanks in advance to anyone who can help me

Ryan

When you go to reinstall vista, there is an option to "delete partition", then when you recreate a new one it formats it, then copies the relevant files on to it.

What happens when you plug your external maxtor drive in? Once its plugged in, right click on my computer and click "Manage" then go to disk management to see if its listed there, and if so, tell us what it says on the disk.
