Hi all,

Last weekend i visited Motor World and bought a sub and amp package.

Got it home and though to myself "do i really need this" and decided no, so left it in the boot of my car and took it back the next day.

I walked into the shop and the youth behind the counter said he could give me a refund, so he got his supervisor. The guy said i wasn't entitled to a refund, only a Credit Note, as the sub and amp had nothing wrong with it.

I expalined it had not been removed form the box, and only purchased yesterday (as an unwanted gift for brother is what they were told.)

So, after taking my credit note i wasn't happy at all, the guy was rather rude so i phoned MW Head Office and kicked off some more.

I've got the Area Manager giving me a call, but i thought i'd put this in motors as its a Motor-related purchase.

What are my chances of getting my credit note changed back into a full refund?

Cheers,

Phil

This would probably be better in GD i'd say..

Maybe, was hoping somebody who has had a refund from Motor World would be able to offer some info.

I've check the website but the refund policy applies to Web Purchases only.

The packaging was never opened and nothign was removed from the box.

It was literally purchased, then left in the boot, taken back next day.

I'm awaiting the area manager to give me a call, so i'll see what happens then.

I was the understanding that you were entitled to a refund if the item was returned within the 14 day period.

Spoke to area manager and to quote...

"We are here to sell, not to give refunds"

Me = "That says it all, goodbye".

He was VERY shirty and defensive with me. I'll keep my credit note but HO will be recieving a letter of complaint in regards to attitudes from both the Branch, and Area Managers.

You are the one in the wrong, not the store. As has been said, you were not entitled to any form of refund, it was a gesture of goodwill that they didn't have to give. Be glad they didn't charge you a restocking fee, as they could have done that.

The distance selling act allows people to send back items within 14 days as there's no way to physically see the goods before purchase. It's not so people can change their minds.

I'm not disputing that i have to keep the Credit Note, i can't expect them to change company policy for one individual.

What i do expect is a level of Customer Service that the Customer should be happy with, which i wasnt!
