Ok, so following this thread, in which asda fail to deliver next day and so I cancel the order.

Today I learn that the geniuses at Asda have decided to send me it anyway. ARGHHHHH

I have an email from DPD saying it will be delivered today. Order on Thursday with next day delivery + Delivered on Sunday = One lost customer. A friend ordered exactly the same thing about 4 hours after me, his turned up on Friday.

I was straight on the phone to Asda. They said they could email to get it stopped for delivery "but even if I do send that email it might already be with the driver anyway", yes that could be true but can you just send the email anyway??? Really reluctant to help at all.

I made sure he sent the email and he advised me to refuse the package at the door and it will go back to the factory.

Has anyone got any experience of refusing packages at the door? I feel like the courier will just steal it and then asda will say I never returned it and I'll have massive hassle for weeks to come.

If you reject it at the door, it gets sent back to sender. I've had to do this with not one, not two, but three (!!!) broken fish tanks in transit.

I've refused stuff from Royal Mail, it just gets returned to sender but saves you paying postage. Although, if you have a deep rooted mistrust of couriers, then I have no solution for you.

Would it be possible to record a video of the refusal on your phone? You might have to inform the driver that you are recording the event, but you could mitigate the weirdness of that by saying you've had a lot of problems with this sort of thing in the past.

eh? you just tell them you're not taking it....

they're unlikely to steal it but even if they do it isn't like you've signed for it

I've had things signed for in my name before and never turn up with me...

Seems like I should be okay to simply refuse it though. Hopefully the driver is not disillusioned by his work.

I've done it plenty of times before for varying reasons. Just say "Hi mate I need that returned to the sender". It's not like you're actually saying I REFUSE THAT PACKAGE!...

If I was you id accept it and just return it yourself, to a store if possible. If you refuse it at the door it could take days to actually arrive back with asda.

Or you could return the dearer one to argos.

Can't return it because I've opened it. I'll just ask the driver to kindly return it to the sender.

The only reason I've been in a huff and puff is because it's quite a high valued item as far as I'm concerned and I would have prefered for it all to have gone smoothly.

You just say you don't want it.

Instead of clicking the "accept" tab on his handheld, he clicks the "refused" tab.

You sign refused, he takes it away.

Such drama!

+1 for the above. All packages are tracked by the handheld so little chance of the packaged being stolen. This from an ex delivery man.
