Regrets

C&C3 tiberium wars. First C&C game I'd bought since Generals and I felt really let down. Spore was also disappointing, I remember watching a 30 minute dev video before they went down the cartoon style graphics route and it looked great.

Football Manager 2010 - caused way too much marital strife! No joke, it ended up with the missus locked in the bathroom and me snapping the FM disk and shoving it under the door to get her to come out

Still, she got me FM2011 for Xmas :D

Games that I regret buying because I didn't like them:

Sins of a Solar Empire
World in Conflict
The Witcher

All great games I'm sure - I just personally didn't like them.

Bioshock 2 and finding out there is no gamepad support even though the first game had native support..
Not only that but 2K tried to convince PC gamers their custom PC UI was better for the controls than a gamepad (yeah right on this game type its designed around a gamepad not including an option was very lazy).

Black Ops is my biggest regret. I've never bought a more broken game. It's the only game I wish I could get a refund for and it completely soured my experience of buying games at launch. Fallout: New Vegas comes close, but at least that's a good game despite the bugs.

Far cry 2, the original was good but fc2 was crapola!
Also assassins creed, not for me I'm afraid.
And the infamous Blops, been a big fan of Call of duty since the start of the series, i really enjoyed the singleplayer and zombies but the mp is bad.

Probably Machinarium I just can not get into that game and the monkey island 2 special addition I think adventure games aren't really my cup of tea. Jolly Rover was fun though.

Warcraft. Spent too long on it and got nothing out of it. 2 and a half years I spent on it doing the daily grind thinking I was getting somewhere and making progress. Pointless cycle of grind and kill repeated in different colours. Its fine the first few times but I cant see what I got from the game now. The social aspect is all I can think of but I can get a better version of that face to face down the pub. Also meant I missed out on many other games and have quite a large back catalogue to get through. Its fien if you get enjoyment out of it or can play it for just an hour or 2 a day.

nothing else specific. Although I often regret starting so many games which always ends up leaving some of them unfinnished as I go off and start another due to being in a funny mood. Looking at my desktop and seeing 10 games, 1 just for MP and only 2 others that im more than halfway through.

I'm bored at work. Thought i would start a discussion. (this could start something here.....;))

Which games do you regret buying/playing?
Or do you regret something specific with regards to certain games?

Personally, i regret buying Borderlands GOTY for £30 from Steam. Not the game i thought it was at all.

Specifically, i regret reading spoilers for Mass Effect 2 before playing, as i feel it did kind of spoil some of the reveals(thats why they are called spoilers;))

Regret buying a number of MMOs after not playing them after the free month. Games such as Matrix Online, Age of Conan, Aion, Rift and Warhammer Online. Also regret buying the WoW Cataclysm collector's edition since I stopped playing soon after the expansion launched.

Non-mmos probably Empire Total War due to the bugs and crashes to desktop I had with it. Paid full price on release through Steam after defending the high price (for a PC game) for it.

I regret giving steam a go, it's garbage, just another player of things that can go wrong. Never again will I pay for a game and recieve nothing tangible in return.

I can't play ther games I bought because steam is trash, neither can I sell on my copies.
