Is it a good idea to reinstall your OS upon putting new ram in a system?
I've just got some Corsair TwinX PC4400 from our very own Members Market and my system BSOD's everytime.. even when trying to boot at a default 2Ghz for my 170 and even with the mem running at 100Mhz..

Would a reinstall resolve this situation?

This may be nothing at all to do with your problem but I'll share it with you just in case it is relevant.

My previous system was based around an Athlon on an N4+Ultra chipset. Immediately prior to the AMD system I had run an Intel based system. When I first upgraded from Intel to AMD I took my I GB Corsair TwinXLL 3200 Pro from the Intel system. I was surprised to discover that the Corsair memory would not run at it's default settings in the AMD board, I had to underclock the memory to maintain system stability.

Running Memtest on the Corsair on the AMD system threw up errors. Running Memtest on the same memory in the older Intel board threw up no errors. In fact that Corsair memory is still running overclocked stably in the Intel system. In order to get my AMD system stable it was necessary for me to purchase new memory.

There is no need to reinstall the OS for changing memeory.

Firstly, make sure all bios settings are "reset to default". It may also be worthwhile reseting your bios' CMOS jumper to ensure it defaults to factory standard.

If the above does not work, then increase the voltage by +0.1 to +0.2v.

If that does not work test 1 stick of ram at a time.

Some Mobos are funny with certain RAM, as for re-installing the OS, i didnt bother when going from a 3700sd to a C2D based system and it runs like a dream, i just uninstaled the mobo drivers and re-instaled the new ones, then reactivated XP over the net.

Are there any known compatability issues with a Lan Party SLI-DR and Corsair XMS 4400C25PT RAM??
I had that exact same combination and it gave me nothing but problems, i sold the xms4400c25pt for some mushkin and all my problems went away, google theres quite a few posts about issues with that ram and dfi nf4 mobos.

I've since sent them back and recieved a refund.. excellent service from the seller.. Now got my eye on some 2GB Redline...:)
