its that time again... ive gone through all my games and ended up reinstalling WoW! mainly due to the fact my PC wont run anything better than this and could do with an update, also through boredom!

does OCUK have an active guild or anything? if so what server is it on?
i have Burning Crusade but never really played it! i think i got to level 10 with blood elf!

has WoW got anymore exciting or is it same old stuff different day?? :p
anything new or totally different from about a year back?

:)

Oh dear, lol

What's the problem if he wants to play it?

This isn't particularly aimed at you but here goes:

Why do people insist on calling WoW players sad or rambling about having no life?

If they choose to play WoW and enjoy it what the **** is the problem?

Anyway, end rant :p

i take off my robe and wizards hat..

That was actually funny :p

Actually its not about players being sad or having no life. I take it as more of "can't get rid of addiction" type of thing. I had so many friends that quit and went back and quit and gone back. Took me something like 2 years with 2x 3 months long holiday in between to quit wow completely. It's how MMO eats you alive! :D

To answer that question no, it's still the same old grind to get anything of worth from it, ofc you'll see lots of small new stuff added like the daily quests and such, just don't expect anything to different about it.

I stopped playing it myself just over a week ago. It just seemed to much like hardwork in the end to me, rather than fun.

That was after over 2 years of playtime for me also.

And if anyone wonders why I played for so long, it was because of the community...well friends and the guilds I was part of to be more exact.

My best advice to you is, get a months sub and try it out yourself.

Not everyone that plays WoW gets totally addicted...

me included! .. i tended to play for a few months then stop (mainly cos i just procrastinate a lot) never let it get in the way of work/college/social life... whats the point, its a game, meant to be fun, no?

personally i find it difficult for a game to consume my life! lol

EDIT: looks like i started an interesting topic...again!! lol

I agree on that point, but the problem is, to get the best out of the game, you still have to put to much time and effort into it. Whether you have an addiction to it or not.

It's just the way most MMO's are made.

Its perfectly possible to enjoy wow and not loose your life to it. QUite frankly all those who claim to be addicted would get addicted to other things anyway, its not wow's fault you cant control yourself.

The end-game of wow IS a fun game to play untill you have completed all the possible quests and have gained faction with pretty much everyone and done all the heroic dungeons untill you have everything you want. THEN its a case of raiding or simply quitting. If the OP has only just started playing then hes got a lot to enjoy and he will either like the style of play or he wont.

To those that say "you cant get anywhere on your own" then thats bullcrap im afraid. Ive taken a break of raidleading in my (casual ) guild and have decided to level up a warrior as we are short on spare tanks. Ive played solo and only grouped to do some quests with random people and am now level 47.. thats taken me about 3 weeks playing 2-3 hours a night for maybe 3 or 4 nights a weeks, the same time i would have spent either watching telly or being down the local should i want to do that kind of thing. Ive not "boosted" my char or even sent any gold to it from my main chars.

The changes they have made with the latest patch means doing quests and leveling up has gotten a bit easier from level 30 -60 now so its more solo friendly.

In the end wow isnt for everyone, for those that do enjoy it then its a good value game that provides entertainment whenever you want it and is easy enough to pick up and play.

Some people will slate wow till doomsday and tbh those are the sort who usually only play CS and other such games. Ignore them and see for yourself, only YOU can decide if its something you like!

I disagree I have enjoyed the game immensly without even going near a dungeon.

For me playing for 3 hours solid is not an option so I solo 99% of the time and chat to guildies. In fact I've done a few 90 minute sessions and gained hardly any XP just hanging around in the cities bit of auctionneering and fishing I'm currently not playing it I play it for a couple of months then skip a few months.

I've been playing off and on since OCT '05 and my highest character is level 49

Theres nothing wrong with playing WoW, in fact theres no difference playing WoW for hours on end than there is sitting in front of the PC replying with pointless thread posts slating people on their interests.

Personally, I tried WoW and didn't like it.

from the horses mouth!, somebody that doesnt like it and isnt slating it! fantastic!

i too played it on and off for a few months, love the game, have a bunch of characters around level 20-30 and 1 lvl 60, since 05. its all good fun doing the little quests and duneons as it is the raids and bigger group quests.

you can get places on your own! i managed to get around lvl 50 without any help, unless in instances etc. didnt really do much interacting with guilds, and still dont tbh!!

I took a 6 month break and started again a month or so ago. Mainly playing PvP which i am really enjoying atm.

Changes have been made to allow lvling up from 0-70 much faster and also you can now get great gear from PvP - means you never have to go near a dungeon again! and therefore ofc not spending 4hours a night raiding.
