Reinventing the Great British Plug?

impressive. the additional costs might be slightly prohibitive to use on most devices. But for s****y goods i'm sure it'll take off

Folding plug = awesome idea, the multiple plug adapter however, although a nice idea and good in theory I would have thought that it could be unsafe, due to the amount of heat that could build up due to little ventalation and possibly higher current going through a smaller space.

Looks a bit flimsy, what if you kicked it side on by mistake, wouldn't it be dangerous to try and remove it from the socket if you had to place something between the socket and the now flat plug?

Has anyone noticed they haven't actually made one yet.

Yea, it's all well and good for designers to come up with stuff like this, but it takes an engineer to get it working properly.

I have a nagging feeling that this design probably wouldn't conform to some safety legislation or something like that, neat idea though.

if we switch to these, how do transformers fit in? We would still need big sockets for them.

Yea, I noticed that too, still need the big transformer plugs, which are the big problem anyway.

It's a neat design, but I really think the bulkiness of the plug on my charger works in its favour. Where I end up presenting or working, it always gets kicked, stepped on, falls of the desk, etc. A big moulded plug has survived so far!

Who would honestly bother folding out/in a plug simply to save a tiny bit of space.

Yes it looks cool. But it's not practical in the slightest.

it would save on packaging, the box in which the plug was held on your newly purchased product, would be a lot smaller :)

Yes and the cost of developing/manufacturing the plug would massively outweigh any saving you'd get on a tiny bit of packaging. Could be the reason why this hasn't already taken off.

Things like wireless power are going to be the answer to bulky plugs/adapters anyway.
