Reinventing the Great British Plug?

That looks awesome, especially the multi-plug adapter. Hope he's got a patent on it.

The folded up form would be good as a muti-plug adapter, but I wouldn't like to use it in its unfolded form pluged straight into the wall sucket. What Blackbadger says....

Rubbish idea imo.. If something is not broken, don't fix it. The 3 pin UK plug type is probably the safest any country uses, which is why many other countries use it too, its very robust and safe. This concept design is so flawed in safety aspects, I think people often forget how dangerous the mains is.

If your worried about your macbook getting scratched get a case for it, or even have the sense to get a battery that enables your device to be used as a laptop.

The main flaw I see with this design (which I really like otherwise) is one that will no doubt stop it from ever being in use. Health and Safety, the design appears to make it a million times easier for a small child to remove the plug and thus possibly expose the partially inserted contacts. The standard 'fat' plug requires a fair amount of force to remove (and a big enough hand to get your fingers round the plug) this new design has a loop on the sticking out bit which gives the child something to get hold of.

it will never take off because to put it simply ''whats the point''

they have pretty much invented a problem so they can make the solution.

no one needs a small plug. who has honestly ever thought ''my plug is too big'' ?
I guess you don't have a laptop/PSP/DS/Mobile Phone?

It would be great to carry a plug like this around with my PSP.

Unfortunately a plug like that is very unlikely to have a big enough internal space to hold the mains adaptor required for your PSP - you'll still need a block with the mains adaptor.

Sounds good if it takes off.

Ever tried to thread a lead and plug somewhere or pack a plug away and thought damn why does it have to be so big? Problem solved.

Sadly lots of small devices have an external power adapter where this is going to make little difference. (As mentioned already)

i cant see a few square cm making much difference when the majority of those items have big blocks somewhere along the cable(or on the plug) anyway. my nokia phone charger and macbook have relatively compact plugs anyway compared to the classic/standard design. im sure other laptop manufacturers can do the same

The video showed a pretty compact USB adapter too, I'm sure it could be made into the plug too. Many portable devices these days will charge with a usb adapter.

Laptop chargers etc are bulky but a compact plug would still muchly help.

Excellent idea for business laptops, we see a lot of damaged laptops from people cramming the plugs in alongside the laptops. However, I cant see it getting approved from a safety point of view, doubt it can be built strong enough to make it work.

You can buy the redesigned plug for usb now.

Not got CE approval yet by the look of it

Has the Mu® been independently tested and does it comply with British Safety Standards?
Yes – the Mu® USB Adapter has been tested by recognised certification organisations and has the full pre-requisite approvals for CE certification.

No Way. It's smaller so it has less material so it should be cheaper. SO there.
