Relegation speculation

For what it's worth I do agree with Purdy, some Newcastle fans did get 'above their station' last season which unfortunately bred a certain amount of contempt for them being back in the league (from my perspective anyway), this year though you feel like you need to have the lot of them put on suicide watch they're that depressed :p

(the above reason is also why I wouldn't mind seeing Southampton go down, in fact 9 times out of 10 it's a club's fans that turn you off a club rather than the club itself)

Wigan, Reading and either Villa or Norwich will go down. I wouldn't be against Newcastle going down as you might be able to pick up a couple of handy players on the cheap if they did but ultimately, like QPR and Southampton, they've got enough going forward to pick up enough points to stay up.

Fans in general is too much of a generalization, the ones I interacted with ****ed me off with their arrogance/entitlement, like I said I wanted you up, now after seeing it I wouldnt mind you down. (Also massive dislike of pardew)

Don't know why you're so offended really and I never mentioned anything about title chasing

Perplexed rather than offended.

Examples of the arrogance/entitlement? Arrogant about what? Feeling entitled to what?

I still think you have an unreasonable Newcastle hatred and are using the above as an excuse to justify it. Whatever floats your boat Purdy, I find it completely weird that having interacted with 'a few' NUFC fans this has left you wanting the club relegated.

Above their station in what way exactly? How many of these 'fans' have you interacted with?

Who do you support again? And are you from the area they are located?

Stop poaching Cabaye you lot!!! :p

Also the "above your station" comment is a weird one Tom :p what defines station?

I think its a section of fans..we have them as well at sunderland

they think just because you get big crowds it should guarantee you a victory over 'smaller' clubs or they sneer when being linked with a player from a club they deem 'smaller' then themselves

when the reality is some big teams have had no real success for an entire generation and fans are living on past glories and not the reality they face now

not all newcastle fans are like this and its not just them (my brother is entirely realistic as are most) but I suspect there are fans like this at all clubs.

Well most(if not all) the newcastle fans on this forum can't seem to see the difference between 8-9 euro games extra in the first 3 months of the season, so basically it was 27 games rather than 18 league games over the same period. They can't seem to see the difference between a basically injury free, no distractions, perfect season from just about everyone, and the season they are having now and suddenly all think Pards is incompetant and none of the players are working hard enough.

basically the same 13-14 players playing every game for 6 months will always play better than 25 players, playing in a different team every week due to multiple injuries and having to deal with flying all over Europe and 40-50% more league games in the same period. Newcastle would have done hugely better, been less tired, and probably had less injuries if they didn't get into Europe last year.

Because Newcastle got as high as they did, Newcastle fans here, and elsewhere seem to think they are "above" the potential relegation fight, if you can finish 6th one year, you shouldn't ever finish lower the year after kind of thinking that is winding a lot of people up.

Seriously last year was literally the perfect season where nothing went wrong at any stage, an "average" year and they've have been maybe just above mid table, and a poor year, yeah, there will be times they aren't far ahead of the relegation places... like every other team who has hit 6-8th in the league then next year struggles to stay up, then a year later is pushing top 8 again, and so on and so on.

You can't use a "perfect" season as baseline and complain about anything else, its ridiculous, and that wasn't even a perfect season while also in Europe with vastly more games to play. Every other team in the world struggles with extra games, but Newcastle are special.... Europe is merely harder, go look up Liverpools form pre-xmas last year, nothing extra, and post xmas, runs in both cup's to the finals, the extra games, won a cup, got to another final, league form dropped into the toilet completely and thats without the extra travel europe entails. The year before, form with europe in the first half of the season vs form with no extra games after exiting all cup competitions, night and day in both cases.

DM river of bull as usual.

Everyone can recognise the above you have said however, unlike in DM world, we also realise that it is a self made problem by not buying the summer when the chairman and manager clearly stated we would. That compounded with the fact that Pardew did have a great season he has struggled to manage without everything going right for him. Injuries can knock you down but it has knocked Pardew straight out, he can't adapt and combines that with poor selection options.

Also no one has said we are too big or good for relegation, we have been very realistic we are in a mess and we need to sort it out.

Newcastle had the ideal opportunity to build on last season but instead ballsed it up.

Stick to spouting **** about Arsenal.

I normally really like/agree with your posts DM...but what a load of drivel that is.

You've tarnished all Newcastle with the same brush there, basically saying we all think we are too good for the drop. Utter utter tosh.

The vast majority of our poor league campaign can be contributed to Ba and his selfish, egotistical crap he pulled with Pardew about wanting to be the number 1 striker. Pardew had no backbone in the situation so pandered to Ba and gave him what he wanted. Reverting to 4-4-2 when we a) Don't have effective wingers for that formation b) Don't have a second striker to be able to play off Ba like Leon Best did last season.

Pretty much destroying Cisse's confidence. Obviously there are other factors such as injuries, squad depth and a couple of stupid red cards to 2 key players doesn't help either. But most of the Europa games have been played by the 2nd string, so I honestly think Ba's attitude and injuries have had the most influence on our form this season.

Not saying I would necessarily label it as arrogance, but last season there seemed to be quite a few with a real chip on their shoulder when others suggested they thought Newcastle would struggle against the top sides (back when they were in the top 4).

He starting to confuse me atm.

He says us tards don't understand how many extra game we have to play yet ****s us off for complaining about how we dint improve our paper thin squad lol

Also seems to think that a striker playing out on the wing will score the same amount if goals or perform just as well...
