Relocating to Cornwall

Gets the best of the UK weather. Nice beaches. Surfing. Pasties. Cider.

What is there not to like? :D

I live in Cornwall and Cornwall does not get the best of the UK weather.

In Summer when it's 28C in London and the South East, Blue Sky etc, it will be 18C in Cornwall, with in shore breezes and quite a lot of cloud. It very rarely get's above 20C in Cornwall, in fact this Summer it happened on only 5 occasions.

In Winter it is wet, windy and absolutely miserable, it will be warmer than the rest of the UK due to the wet and windy weather, so even if it is -5C in the rest of the Country it will be about +5C in Cornwall.

The surfing is good, but trust me if you go to Newquay be prepared to surf with every tom dick and harry thinking they are in California or Hawaii while trying to stand up on a 1ft wave. Move down the coast to St. Agnes or Godrevy for better surfing.

And as for Cider, that is Somerset, which is about 100 miles from Cornwall.

Hayle isn't bad but not sure it's somewhere I'd want to live.

Was there a bit last year for all the Wavehub stuff with work and there were worse places to be than on the beach instead of in the office :)

And Hayle's Kitchen do a nice fry up.

My mate (& former boss) did this 10 years ago & doesn't regret it one bit, He settled into a stone cottage about 15 Minutes walk from the Eden Project.

I'd love to move to Cornwall. We went there in the summer as my wife was heavily pregnant and we wanted a lazy UK holiday...it was perfect. The one and only time I've been in Cornwall for a reason other than the typical 'surfing in Newquay'.

We stayed in Seaton and visited Looe, Polperro, Fowey, St. Ives, Land's End, Mousehole, and a few other places. Loved it and would definitely move there.

Spent the last 3 years in Falmouth studying for my degree. Cornwall really is a nice place, and when im older i think i will move back there.

So many nice places, lots of good food and beer. The surf is amazing, and as someone already said....get to St.Agnes. Used to love surfing there and then hitting the pub!

Living in Hamburg Germany now and the life difference is rather amazing ha. Although here is wonderful too...Everything has its good and bad sides.

Enjoy it though :)

Where abouts are you moving to?

When I saw the thread title I was thinking "ooh you're going to struggle getting a job down there" but looks like you have that sown up.
So what are you waiting for? :D

It's probably one of the nicest parts of the UK in my opinion. Weather, coastal paths, beaches and that typically quirky old school England feel.
If I could get a well paid job down there you wouldn't see me for dust.
