Relocation to Spain Experience

If they took a straight conversion then that's a big fail.

Lol where do you rent a 1 bed for £844 in the UK. Average uk rent is £1313.
On average, the cost of living in Spain is 114% cheaper than in the UK.

I've got a 3 bed house costs me as of next month £850 a month. Been paying £725 for the last 12 months and £650 for a few years before that.

Like most average costs/earnings they get skewed by the places that are crazy expensive.

We will buy our main NO mortgage and possible smaller flat unsure untill after the main purchase. She has her own flat in the uk with a mortgage which she pays herself.
As i would earn the same in Spain( 5% less @ the moment) as the UK, i would save more, this would compensation what i would have paid towards servicing the interest.
The additional benefit property prices are rising and the economy is one of the best growing in the EU. Yes, I know that when an economy grows things get more expensive later on.
It was either Germany which i dont fancy or Italy which I dont fancy even if i would pay approx 38% less tax in Italy.
Poland is out growing everyone else, just too new for me to trust the system.

A lot of big US companies are moving to Spain, Chinese biggest companies moving to Spain and 8% growth in my area. Since the Digital Nomad Visa this is the country to be in at the moment.
I plan to work for 5 -7 years only, then take it easy, and just enjoy the sun till i "meet ones' maker" :D .
People who have experience in this growth area, should look at Spain.

As said, down south, cambridge area is ~1K for a 2 bed

USA companies are still planning in eu investments with Trump in office ? equally UK companies (&kier) may still be paying lip service to working from home but, in france, anyway,
you need to be in the right cities, at the office.

apple building an ai r&d

BTW your inforgraphs is old, everthing had changed since then, the country has completely changed since covid, its flipped 180 deg, plus the Cities of Choice , "Weighting for the ranking subdimensions" is bias, just by looking at their data, they try not to introduce bias but they do, they dont suggest they scaled the data.

Intel and apple old news, but they are now expanding in that country.

They are all expanding their investment,CoreWeave Investment and a BIG company Establishing AI skills & R&D center in Spain (50% their EU investmenet budget heading to spain) it was goingto Germany, but now it is going to Spain.

I would live in Spain, close to a mountain and a stream. None of these southern deserts where water shortages if they don't already exist, soon will. Drilling a borehole is OK but if all your neighbours do too, the problem is worse. A good proportion of the population exists on bottled water extracted and bottled at a profit. The corruption in the south growing vegetables in hectares of glass house and poly tunnels is also dispiriting to many and the importation of north Africans to work in near slavery picking them. No minimum wage here or EU legal minimums of employment law.
As for the proposed huge tech data centres needing power and water too. That could soon change. Spain is far more likely to be impacted by climate change than the northern European States.
