remember when microsoft said..

MS can't leave anything alone. Bing, and now this. Do they really have to be in EVERY market?

So based on their presence as a search engine (which they had long before Bing) and as a games developer/publisher (which again, they've had for ages), that qualifies them as being in every market?

Hold on, just need to go and get the Windows Live Popcorn out of my Microsoft Microwave.

I wonder if one of the reasons they pushed Gears 3 back to holiday 2011 for the 360 was because they want Epic to do Gears of War 2 for Windows. It's exclusive games like those that Microsoft need to get anywhere with their effort.

maybe you guys need to look at it from a different perspective, every-time you playing your favorite on line game, just think had it not being for MS you would probably not be playing that game, boy do I get sick of the small minded MS bashing, for what ever faults you can lay at there door, they have by how easily they made windows from day one enhanced ever single on line game ..( besides the zillion other things they made possible).

If they turn this into the no 1 game site to d/l games its will only be because everyone else let the ball drop, steam already take the mickey with their pricing.

I think it's more because they wanted to put a little extra space between the games, most likely to tone down the fact that it's the same game as the first two. I miss the days when sequels brought new developments to a series, but as long as people keep throwing money at titles like GoW and CoD, it's never going to change.

Reminds me of a Bill Hicks skit where he mentions the trade by which Vanilla Ice gained popularity - particularly "I will put all the money in the hands of 14 year old girls - they will think you're charismatic, deep and edgy". Wasn't there a teenage revolution against this sort of defecant?

You don't see the added value of having your games back up for ages?
Pc gamer don't want a live clone for the pc.

yes lets all bow down before the company that kills its competitors and then does what its uses down want...

..* Apart from games arn't very cheap .. but hey ho!

except during those fantastic steam sales that make our wallets burn :p

tbh I'm happy with steam as a digital distribution system. Where I buy things on depends mainly on price, but I'm still happy going out and buying a box/ordering online if it's the best value for money option.

Will see what comes of this, hopefully will be competitive and something good will come of it. Otherwise, meh..:o

Unlike Steam’s reliance on a downloadable client, Games for Windows Marketplace will have you buying games directly from their website. T

But you'll still have to run the completely useless games for windows live client.

I love it. I loved it even more when I discovered that games had limited activations that they don't tell you about. Heck, even the developers and publishers of the games didn't know about them until users started complaining they were locked out. Activations that you can't revoke, and can't find out how many you have left, and which you have to beg Microsoft for a new key for your legally bought game and which they will only ever do once.

I also love it for encrypting my saves and tying them to my OS install so that my Batman saves became micraculously corrupted when I upgraded to Windows 7.

Yep, I really love it.*

* Lie mode cancel.

I wish MS would just stick to making decent OS. If they spent more time focusing on that then things like Vista could have avoidable. I really do appreciate MS for certain things, like Win7 but please butt out of things like this!

Hate being treated like an idiot when it comes to my games and my computer... Please use this crappy interface to log into crappy Windows Live. You can't be trusted to load the correct savegame so allow me to restrict you. Welcome to the world of mentally sub-normal console gaming.

I think Microsoft are turning into a jack of all trades master of none :/

Hardly, admittedly Bing isn't as big as Google, but nearly every PC gamer uses Windows, the Xbox 360 is still selling crazy amounts, Xbox Live has crazy amounts of people playing on it, as does GFWL (i'm not saying this is brilliant, but it's not bad) and hotmail/live mail is used by a crazy amount of people, it's not like they're struggling, is it?

I really don't mind GFWL, takes 2 minutes to set-up an account if you don't have one, which you probably will have anyway, or you can just set-up an offline account and forget about it. I have also never had an issue backing up and replacing save games on GFWL games.

GFWL is better for download speeds than steam.

Microsoft severs VS Steam severs Microsoft always maxis out my connection without fail can’t say the same about steam.

You missing the point why did they get so big, because they done it bigger, better and cheaper than there competitors ..if people like you held away we would all be trying to use Linux ...look how well they done :D.

I'm not blind to there faults, but nor am I totally so closed mind I cannot see what advantages they have brought.
