Remembrance Day "We Will Remember Them"

Less than half of my office observed the silence.

Upto them at the end of the day...some people would rather take that phone call at work rather than sitting still for 2 minutes...sad really

Only 2 of us did :(.

BTW, I like what OcUK have done with the post view count, very touching and thank you to whoever it was :).

???....What was done?

Well it pretty much was, yes. Using OcUK as the benchmark for public opinion on the sacrifice made by our armed forces seems odd.

Are you sure they're not pinned to their jackets which are hanging up somewhere? Nobody wears them straight on their shirts, surely.

Positive, when taking of my jacket, I pin mine to my shirt.

The majority of people here just don't have them.

Also had a miserable old cow behind me talking through the silence, till I told her to shut up and pay some respect.

Same here, I've made sure i've always got it on display and every time I've lost one (a lot!) I've bought another.

I think platypus is referring to this -

Our office nicely did the 2mins :) No one typed we unplugged our phones.

Its good when everyone pitches in.

I have, all it earned was tuts and sighs from the powers that be. **** em.

Edit: Yes indeed Maccy, not sure how it was done (not very knowledgeable about vbulletin) but its a nice touch.

I think it was a coincidence? It's changed now.

Unless an admin changed it back after the 2 minutes silence.

Are people embarrassed to stop everything for 2 mins a year and just reflect on what our service men and women did for us ? we used to get the odd person who would forget what time it was, but when they walked into the department and saw everyone else they would stop what they were doing.

Wouldn't surprise me matey

I stop everything for 2 mins, but not to reflect on what just our service men and women did for us, but to reflect on what all service men and women, both those who fought for us and those who fought against us, did for their respective nations.

Central London appeared to be at a standstill. I was moved that the bus actually stopped and people stopped in the streets. Shame about the lack of poppies though, walking up from St Pauls to the Strand saw a whole *two* poppies on people just after 11am.

I've been in a town centre at 2 minutes silence time, and it is quite eerie with nearly everyone stopped.

Our office was silent, bar someone who had been unfortunate enough to be on the phone for ages in the run up to it.
