We had a large meeting today, and to my surprise and joy they paused the conference for 11 for 2 mins. That was really rather a pleasant surprise.

Tried to explain it to my 4 year old the other day. Quite complicated. Not sure if they'll try a two minutes silence in a reception class... She's got a poppy though.
Less than half of my office observed the silence.

Had BBC news on most of the day and did not even hear it being reported.
It's intended to make your blood boil. Then they win.
Ignore it. It doesn't have to stop the rest of us being respectful.
