Hey guys,

So I am going away for a few days and am planning to leaving my PC on while I am gone.

I will have my laptop with me and I may need to access my PC at certain times. What is a good, free or paid remote access software which will allow me to have full control of my PC?

Thanks :)

Team viewer is great as well as logmein, both a free iphone app as well. VNC is always very good and free all be it there iphone app is £6.99

Basic VNC is pretty insecure, don't get me started on the latest RDP vuln. :p

TV/LME is the way to go.

The free VNC does not have any encription but would be fine if your just remote viewing around your lan from home i guess but i know the iphone vnc app does have encription enabled on it by default.

I use vnc when im at home around my lan and when accessing from the outside world so to speak wheather it be from a phone or another machine i tend to go for teamviewer

Nothing, RDP is what I would have suggested. It's even more secure if you change the port number it uses. It's easy to do that, but make sure you pick a new port number that is not used by other programs or trojans, etc.

As long as your aware RDP only works on windows pro and above versions only really. You can use it on home premium versions but its very limited, i believe you can remote out from the home premium version of windows which your running rdp from but that machine cannot be remoted to via rdp

I use teamviewer everyday from work to connect to my home pc. You can set up unattended access so you just need to leave your pc turn on and logged in and it always works. I am not sure if it works before logging in, have not tried it.

teamviewer is pretty impressive i can even watch youtube videos (no sound of course) on my pc through teamviewe with only a slight frame rate reduction.

+1 more for Teamviewer, amazing piece of software and totally free to use which just makes it even better in my book :D

You can drop the relevant Pro DLL into the Windows System32 directory overwriting the Home version and it works great then :)
