Hi guys,

which remote desktop software do you recommend? Can't really get away with the built in remote desktop connection in Windows as not all clients will be on Windows 10 Pro.

Some seem to cost £30-£40/month but I have noticed one called cloudberry which is free.

Being able to save clients for unattended access would be a huge benefit as well.

Thanks in advance

Is that easy for the client / end user to connect up to? One thing I like about Teamviewer is you enter a few numbers and you are in.

You have different ways of setting it up, you can have unattended and connect as and when, set it up for a prompt on the end users device to give you access or they can do the traditional code / id.

Chrome browser has a remote desktop feature, probably ok for occasional use, don't use it much myself but my brother uses it a lot, he used to use TeamViewer but they blocked him.

Same here, used TeamViewer for a while, not sure why they randomly blocked me a few times. Now I use chrome desktop. Does the job, already had a google account so its very straight forward.

NoMachine is free and decent enough, with clients for Windows, macOS and Linux. VNC is also do-able cross platform (it's built in to Mac and Linux, and available for Windows). If, as you say, the only real issue is lack of RDP in non-Pro installs of Windows 10, just grab a tool from GitHub or a regedit tweak and enable it.

I went with Remote Utilities for Windows - team viewer(ish) feel to it in a way. You can do the usual like any connections have to be approved (or not as the case may be) you can lock down the control panel, etc. as well.

The 'free' version for home users comes with a 10 device licence.
