Remote vs Hybrid vs On-Site - Where do you draw the line?

Have done some free online courses - with qualifications at the end, at home past few weeks to gain qualifications. Now most of the jobs I have applied for are either remote or hybrid.

Doing these courses, I do realise that my current set up at home with desk and chair isn't suitable for remote or hybrid work. Desk is too cramped with printer next to laptop. Desk is too small for 2 monitors. Its an Ikea desk and is very similar to this one https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/micke-desk-white-s09903014/. Mine's in beech. Nowhere to write stuff, bar keyboard drawer which isn't used bar the mouse and its too low down.

I can move the printer to a small table which I have in the room as printer uses wifi.

I'm hybrid, one day at home, four days in my two offices. One office is 210 miles there and back an the other is 240 miles there and back. I go to each office twice over monday-thursday. That's 900 miles each working week.
Luckily I have a company car and fuel allowance else it would be costly. It needs a service every 10000 miles, I'm close to booking in a 3rd service this year lol.
Some people say I'm mad travelling about 5 hours a day but I love my job.

Yeah I had that. I had to reorganize my space a few times. Get better furniture. I still need to add better storage and a better cable management though.

Remember to keep the walking you do when commuting. Also in your day when at home. Easy to let it slip.

The course I did was on Teams Mon-Fri 9-5. Most evenings I finished the session and walked to gym (7 mins walk) and did a 40-45 min session then walked back. On lunches on days where I didn't go to they gym, I walked around the block for 15 mins.

If and when I get remote/hybrid and its freezing/chucking it down with rain/snow, I will do one of the various exercise videos on YouTube

Not directly on topic but I'll throw in that my experience of doing 2 days a week in the office is diminishing returns. I usually find one of two days is productive with good conversations happening that might otherwise have not. The other day tends to be sitting on Teams calls or working at my desk, assuming I can even get one. I seem to recall having at least a couple of days in the office where I've literally not spoken to anyone about work just "cheers" for holding a door open or "excuse me" as I approach the coffee machine with random people I don't know. Literally no value just 5hrs travelling.

My Dad WFH for the last 17 years of his employment. Started in 1994 and he had the screechy internet dial-up, fax and phone for communication. I went online before most people of my school year did. Had a 2nd phoneline installed and his employers paid for the costs. His job was sales in the packaging industry. He visited clients, both UK and abroad and probably half the time he stayed o/t somewhere. I remember one time he had a client in Bridgwater and the morning, had to go to Canterbury way. A nasty journey.
