Its a postcount, those who care about it, go get a girlfriend!

I see mine as a stark reminder that perhaps all the hours ive been on here could have been better spent a few years ago getting a trade under me instead of dossing about and struggling to find a career I enjoy now.

Then again, memories of the "broadband" thread still bring a smile to my face. :)

Its not something i watch, but i know some people do!

To me its a good show of credibility to an extent, a quick glance can show if its someone been about here for a bit or someone just kicking in for some nonsense!

Mainly applies to advice given out or in the members market :) Means a bit less in GD, etc!

I like to think I'm the big man around here, I still have a way to go, better watch out who ever is at the top. Tea White 2 sugars ;)

Keep it as its a good way of keeping inactive forum members out of the MM until they have a few posts under their belts IMO.

Removing it wont change the amount of spam, just look at 4chan :D

If a user has above 10k posts its impossible to tell wether it's their actual poscount or wether it was 'bought' in an auction. Which means large postcounts are pointless anyway.

The reverse also works - someone had to sell the postcounts for someone else to buy them (well, except for admins, that is ;))

I gave up 2000 post to an auction some time ago.

Anyhow, posts dont really bother me although to one poster on here who said its going to take ages to get to 250 for MM, it wont take that long. If you have a good thread started and it goes on for a few pages then you have probably racked up 20-30 posts there. One other thing, I have seen this before but how can you view users and their total posts in a single thread. It pops/shows up like a little league table.

Doesn't bother me either way. I think GD should not add to posts though. I like talk photography where they have a members market but posting in general discussion doesn't add to the post count.

It protects the MM a little bit more as it takes more effort to be part of the community rather than spamming an active section less visibly.

Thats a good idea. Having post counts connected to only certain forum sections. Hardware, Consoles and PC games etc. Basicly only technical forums as this is what this whole site is about isnt it.? Maybe sport arena too!
