It's good to see who are regular members, who to 'trust' with regards to advice and stuff.

I know if Big.Wayne popped up saying I should buy AMD for my next system and there was no post count I probably wouldn't listen to him or if Fox was telling me not to buy an Astra.

I'm not bothered about it, gave my last load of posts to the Poppy Auction Thread thingy along with a lot of other people.

I'm not too fussed about it, I've sold all mine off for one of the charity auctions before. It does add to the usefulness/reliability measure of a user though, gives you a rough posts/day or /year measure.

Or in the MM you know if they are relativly new to the forums, new to selling, or just a long term regular who is chucking out crap that no one wants . . . .

Not particularly fussed either way but I do like the post count as it lets me know who is a regular poster who are new to the forums etc.

Would say keep rather than get rid but im not that fussed either way

Need a good one and can't think one up at the moment.

Go be the panda/snake/thing thing

I was a bit disappointed when i found out i needed 250 posts to access member market.

Doesn't seem to make sense to have a 90 day requirement, but then ask someone to post 250 times on the forum. If i were to post once a day that ends up being 250 days...

Like others have said about themselves, i only post when i feel i can either contribute something to a thread or that i have a thread to make myself. Imo it only encourages rushed, short and sometimes meaningless responses to genuine threads in order to raise post count.

I can appreciate on the flip side though that its to protect from scammers who cant easily access the member market, however i think the 90 days membership with some contribution on the forums should be enough, not the 90 days AND the 250 posts.

But that'd be pretty obvious wouldn't it......

Someone selling something with no posts?

I was thinking more along the lines of 90 posts for the 90 days you need to spend.

And anyone with half a brain cell will be able to spot a scammer a mile off anyway - if the sellers post count consists of spam and 1 word answers then you can make a judgement on their integrity. Assuming a scammer would be bothered to setup an account for 90 days and then try and fool people into believing it was legitimate - surely they'd just go to ebay :P

Not so, there has been one recently who kept on doing that. Opens account, posts a bit, enters MM, sells a few cheap items then lists some expensive items, takes money, disappears, opens new account, repeat.

I'd be happy to get rid of postcount, providing I can keep my avatar and title

p.s. pancake

I don't give a flying boat what my postcount is (except for MM access) yet I've been guilty of pointless replies before, I wager I've +1'd before as well.
So what?
Get a grip, woman. Not everyone comes in here with a smoking jacket/pipe/monocle to discuss current affairs. Some of us just want to "lol" at a funny thread.

don't really care - I gave most of mine to a charity auction some time ago. i don't think getting rid of post counting will get rid of those replies - banning people would however :D

oh, and +1

I should point out that I wasn't advocating the idea in the other thread.. I was merely point out that on another forum similar to this, with even more users, the iritating morons all dropped away when postcounts were removed.

I vote pancake.
