Anyone know if Vodka is safe to use on a cpu to remove thermal paste?

Do not use vodka.

Get some isopropyl alcohol (99.9%) and use a micro-fibre cloth to wipe off the thermal paste.

I just use nail polish remover Most alcohol based things should work tbh.

I used surgical alcohol from boots and cotton buds. Worked fine for me.

Same here, I've got some TIM remover but never bother to dig it out as kitchen towel does the job on its own.

Applying any consumable alcohol to anything other than lips, mouth is madness, I love my cpu but draw the line on feeding it alcoholic beverages.

Vodka is perfectly safe to use, it won't damage anything, it will help with removing stubborn old paste that's dried out. But it is a waste of good alcohol!

As long as it isn't a flavored vodka you should be OK.

I'm a strong advocate of using some sort of solution to remove all the TIM from the cpu, including from the minute crevices on the surface of the IHS and cooler, rather than just scraping it off with some tissue.

Doing this and tinting both surfaces with the new TIM before application ensures trapped air is minimised and because all the old stuff has been properly remove you'll get max performance from the new TIM.
