Renting VS Buying

Boomerang allow you to download PDF's of the manuals for some games. I think they are working on the rest.

Ohhh do they?? i like that idea, are they the only ones which allow this, if so i sense me cancelling screenselect lol

To go slightly off topic (but may help OP anyway)....

Has anyone tried both Swapgame and Boomerang?

I'm with Boomerang at the moment but started to get a little pee'd off with them since ive had Burnout in my wish list at No.1 since day one and never recieved it, i'm also starting to get a bit concerned that since i dont subscribe to the full package with them it'll take months before i get one of the 'new' games usch as TDU or Just Cause etc. does anyone using Swapgame and not on the full package have this problem?

TIA

G

Personally I think Boomerang are the best of the bunch. I've been with Screenselect who were pointless and Swapgame who were ok but at the time weren't very speedy getting games out but that may have changed by now.

My first rental from Boomerang was Saints Row on release day so I was quite chuffed with that.

Actually I have yet to get my number one game too. I have (thus far) had 3 rentals sent out to me and they have all been my number 2 in the list.

Not that I am complaining because I have had Dead rising, oblivion and Just Cause sent out to me. (dead rising was sent out the day after it was released)

What if you just have 1 game (your number 1) in your list?

Blockbuster Online was like this and never sent the number 1 either but i quit after the free trial. :)

I've not tried both, but I joined swapgame last week. It says to have 10 items on your list at all times, but I just added Burnout and Just Cause. 20 mins later I had an email to say they're both on the way (this was the day before Just Cause was released). I also have the option of keeping burnout for £26 and they'll send the box/manual to me. Seems good so far!

They advise you to have between 5- 10 games minimum. My list is 25 long with 5 "Pre-order reservations" in a seperate list

I would not like to speculate on the service but if you have a smaller list it could mean you are waiting until that game is available and none of the premium rate customers want it.

I guess they recommend making a list so that there should always be something available for you.

Good stuff guys keep the info coming in. So far it looks like Boomerang but I'm not sure if the extra £2 is worth it to be a premium customer. Plus I hate it when companies effectively say you have to pay more to get the top service.

Krono- yeah FTB and luckily we are at home with our parents so we are in a position where its not the end of the world if it does all fall through. The estate agent now knows that I know they are up to funny tactics (saying the buyer will pull out if we don't exchange within 2 days etc. when they said nothing of the sort) In a rare moment of assertiveness I told them to get their facts straight before making unreasonable demands (their was still paper work outstanding on the sellers side) and that if I thought she was lying again I wouldn't hesitate to contact the seller and explain exactly why I am pulling out and why he should take his custom elsewhere.

Yeah that sounds exactly like the statements made by the Estate agent in my case. I think its a standard "Scare tactic". As I said if we did not need the move to go ahead I would have told them to get stuffed.

Boomerangs deal is only for 2 games a month. I figured 3 games was too many anyway and I think that if I am more likely to get the games I want when I want, then its a good investment the extra £2

Ah yes, it was the Swap game £20 a month one that did 3 games. TBH thats getting a bit pricey then. Having a browse over my 360's blog it looks like I play a single game for a week or two hen move on. Well more or less so a couple of games on rental and buy two or three a year as a little treat should do me fine. Got a couple of games I want to plow through then I'm going to sign up :)
