Replaceing Shuttle need a Small(ish) Case

[Edit] Ignore the first comment.

Meansizzler, if you can keep it stable using just the PSU and a passively cooled NT05, then kudos to you, personally I can't comprehend how the system doesn't hang when load is put on the CPU - i'm sure PSU choice plays a crucial part in whether it will work or not, this would have to be selected carefully before buying. For example, there is no way something low-noise like the Phantom 300W would shift anywhere near enough air.

I'd be reluctant to recommend this method to anyone else though - PSU choice isn't the only factor here. Case fans, CPU, even ambient room temperature could mean the difference between a stable system and an unstable one.

Tute, the Ss website says nothing of the sort.

http://www.silverstonetek.com/products-nt06.htm

The NT06 is not intended to be passive, the PSU is thermally controlled from a temperature sensor inside it, completely unrelated to what the CPU is doing.

The PSU fan could spin like a mad man when the CPU is idling, slow down and when the CPU is on load do nothing.

That is without mentioing the pressure that the PSU's fan will be creating through the fins, likely lacking enough force in the flow of air to maintain effective cooling on a heatsink designed for a 30CFM fan to be right over the fins, directing its flow onto the cooler.

The idea is the same as not plugging in the fan on your artic cooler, and using a 5v 80mm fan on the back of your case to cool your CPU. Not a good idea at all.

Yes, sorry, I do remember at least a picture of the aforementioned heatsink running passively, which is where Meansizzler got the idea from?

Excuse my mistake, bit tired :(
