I have 2 samsung spinpoint in a Abit B7E, in raid 1

I want to change these for 2 new drives as the bearings on the sammy drives are starting to whine.

The new drives are IDE as there is no sata on the mobo

As i see it all i need to do is unplug 1 drive and plug the new drive in boot up and let the new drive rebuild, then repeat to do the second drive. Is it really this simple? Or am i deluded

Cheers

Yep, assuming the new drives are the same size (or larger) as the old ones it is that simple. Just make sure that the rebuild is definitely complete on the first new drive before doing the other one.

Normally there's a management utility included as part of the RAID driver package which will give you the status of the array.
