Rather sick of my iphone 5 now, don't want to wait for the 6 so I'm looking to go back to android and be an uncool kid again. I haven't kept up with the phone tech at all since a year and a half ago, what are the big phones atm or soon to come out?

Had hold of a friends Z2 yesterday, lovely looking phone. Didn't have a chance to play with it though.

Still, you can't beat the N5 for the money.

Good phones to look at is the Xperia Z2, HTC One M8 and the Samsung Galaxy S5. There's also the Note 3 if you want a large screen. I guess the Oppo Find 7a should have a mention as well. The Nexus 5 is another option if you want something a tad cheaper but is still high end.

The Z1 Compact is more iPhone sized but with a 4.3" screen and pretty much the same internals as the original Z1.

The LG G3 is being announced on the 27th this month, so it may be worth waiting for that, the LG G2 was pretty good.

MotoX is pretty much the same height as the 5 / 5S, but slightly wider.

4.7" Screen and excellent in hand feel (Much nicer than the N5 IMO)

Dont rely on the spec sheets as its a superb performer.

Nexus 5. I prefer no junk on my phone so it can only be the Nexus line. Long term iPhone user that had a hard time moving to Android but finally I can't see me going back to an iPhone any time soon.
Love the small bezels on the G3 above though!

Well looks like I can't upgrade early, I checked the EE site and it says I'm in the early upgrade section but when I rang up it states I'd have to pay the remainder of the contract, is it worth seeing if someone like phones4u would pay me out of contract to go with them?

N5 here too

Coming from an iPhone 5 64GB :)

Can't put it down

The M8 would the only choice from the current crop of phones for me.

Although the N5 is undoubtedly the best value.

The iPhone has had its day in my opinion. The OS is restrictive and hasn't changed since its inception and apple refuse to up the screen size.

I completely disagree, but that aside the iPhone 6 will indeed have a bigger screen, and will likely nail the rest of the specs. Should be a fantastic phone.

I'd advise the OP to wait and at least try it out.

If the OP is impatient, get a Nexus 5 to try out Android as they're fairly cheap, then swap to the iPhone 6 if you don't like it.

Moved from android to iOS like a drop of a hat. Many deficiencies in iOS I'm sure but user experience is consistent and the crazy large android phones started annoying me (vowed never to go bigger than my s3).

Well the last time apple upped the screen size it was just about enough to add an extra row of icons :p They have lost sight of what people use modern smart phones for. And even if the new one does up the screen size to a usable level it will still be stuck with the dinosaur that is iOS and the joke that is iTunes.

It would take a complete rethink from apple to even tempt me back to an iPhone.

Lost sight? I think they're spot on, a larger screen (not just a small increase in size) with the best apps and user experience is a winning formula. I think having a screen closer to 5" (likely 4.7) will tempt a lot of Android users; many left due to screen size from what I've seen.

If you don't like iOS then it's not for you, obviously, but I think it's excellent.

I've also never had an issue with iTunes and it's vastly superior to Google's offering, and ties in well with the App Store to provide an unmatched 'ecosystem'.

Sounds like you'll be giving it a miss regardless though.
