I want to move to a Geforce based card as an upgrade, I might go SLI, im thinking of a GTX 670 SLI setup, however im questioning the timing as there may well be new cards coming out shortly that i should hold back on and upgrade when a new card comes, I will also be looking at upgrading CPU when Haswell comes out.

Anyone have any advice or opinion?

I find that at 1920x1200 resolution one 670, is more than enough.

If your resolution is larger than this and you want to go for sli, then I would be looking at 4gb cards, thats if your resolution warrants it.

I wouldn't be looking at 4GB cards unless you're going triple screen and tri-SLI.

Im looking at going to 2 x 24" monitors at some point but right now im 1920x1200 resolution, i was thinking 2 x GTX670 2GB cards that should be enough to drive that

Only reason to go for either dual 670's or 680's would be either triple screens or 120hz / 3D. At 60hz a single 670 or 680 will power through just about any game at 1920 x 1200.

Personally I am jumping from 2 x hd5850 in crossfire to 2 x GTX 680 in SLI because I want to use 3D vision and max out my framerate. If I was going to keep my 60hz screen I wouldn't be bothering with the second card

Hope that helps

it does indeed, more money for other components, i can always add a second card later on if it starts to slow down.

Cheers for the advice

I have two off them and at 2560x1440 no game struggles and most of the time i turn sli of as there is no need on sertain games max payne 3 ect.

But if you want two why not go for it they are the best 670's for sli and also allow the power up too 145% :D

Good choice on the 2GB 670 from EVGA. Very good reputation if something should go wrong :)

I Would see how you get on and if you do decide to go triple screens, another 670 will be a great addition :)

I went from 2x 5870 to 1x 670, it handles everything I play except crysis 2 and BF3 at 2560x1440. I play Cry2 and BF3 at 1080p and both are extremely playable, not far off a solid 60hz.

I've gone from ATI5850 to a NV680 and I found it a bit of a let down.
It's faster in most games but not hugely, in Arma2/OA I'm not getting any difference in FPS over my 5850.

I can turn more stuff on without much loss of performance so things do look better.
I'm not running any of the major games such as BF3 which seem to get improved drivers targeted at them.

I think my best improvement is with rfactor2, I can have everything on and quite high settings and still get a few more FPS than the 5850.
