Hi all, i have seen a few websites posted on here over the last year or two which sell replica watches.

I remember one of the sites were selling them at about £100 a pop but they were supposed to be really good replices.

Can somone point me in the right direction? (Ive tried search, cant find the threads)

Come on man! Get a nice Seiko Titanium Kinetic or something like that... don't look silly wearing a big fake watch!

Don't buy a replica, people will know you for what you are - a wannabee poser.

If you like a particular watch, either save up and buy the real thing, or buy another make that has the same style, but a different name on the dial.

Cheap fakes are rubbish quality. Decent "replicas" can cost as much as a top-of-the-range Seiko or Citizen.

replica posing watch - now you can be shallow AND fake :)

Perhaps he wants it for shooting a Hiphop or pop video?

On the flip side the high end replicas have very nice swiss ETA movements. Certain sites (not 100% sure i'm allowed to post them) sell ETA power watches for $109.

You simply will not find genuine watches with this quality movement in for anywhere near that price.

Heres my new swiss ETA PO which cost me $159, amazing quality when you feel it in the flesh...has real sapphire crystal with AR coating also. You simply wouldn't get a genuine watch of this quality for less than £400 imo.

$159? wow mate that is a deal for such a high quality looking replica. Would you mind posting where you got that from because I'm looking to get myself a rolex or omega replica myself.

no posting of links please as importation of one would be illegal

Hi, not being cheeky here but why would it be illegal? the watches are not made to the same scales and their are differences between them?

get a real watch not a fake, people are always impressed by the hands on my citizen WR100 when the spinning round the clockface when i change tiomezones on it :)

Hmmm....I spose Telescopi didn't post a warning not to so, heres a few (Aspire is the cheapst and where 90% of mine have come from)

Links removed

I have no idea why I can't post them though, viewing a website isn't the same as illegally importing goods.

If i'm not buying from a trusted dealer these are the only 3 sites I'd trust, i'd recomment ou not buy from anywhere else also.

breach of copyright and intellectual property just the same as fake DVD's would be

Oh i see, i have always thought you can get away with it if - you dont make it up to the same scale (bigger/smaller), spell the name differently, make it known that it is a replica and not the real thing etc.

possibly if there are significant differnces but these are mainly designed to look as close as possible to a genuine one including the name and other trademarks

if you look at Bigsy's one above and compare it to this one you will see that the only intention of the manufacturer was to make it as close as possible to the original

apart from the colour that is ( 2 different versions of same watch )

Plus that looks like a 45mm (going by the bezel scallops) and they haven't been able to make a decent version of that one yet. Orange rep above is 42.5mm.

Hey Bigsy. I thought you didn't buy from Paul anymore?

On the whole real Vs rep thing. Personally, i don't see it.
I like watches. Full stop. I could probaby buy a Submariner date, if i saved for it (well, i know i could, because i've spent double that on guitars). But, personally, i prefer to have more watches than fewer watches. So, instead of one Submariner, i have 15 or so watches. I don't even care if i wear them all or not. I just like to look at them. It's kind of like how i love Ferrari (well, it's more like worship in that case), but can't afford a real one, so i buy the 1:18 scale model.

As for people passing off replica's as genuines, then it's caveat emptor i'm afraid. There are flaws in ALL replica watches (see the short hands on Bigsy's PO?). The only reps i've ever seen that can be mistaken for genuines by those in the know, are franken watches (a watch that uses geniune and aftermarket or replica parts). Even then, the movement is probably not the original, so as soon as you take the back off, you know.

Yeah I know m8....I bit the bullet in the end....he seems to have sorted himself out these days, plus he's $100 cheaper than anyone on the PO.

Fair play to him though, I ordered on the Monday, and it arrived on Friday the same week in perfect nick. Top marks from me, dispite what I've said about him in the past.
