Well looks like we finally have a solid release date which is 19th January 2016, even get a little pre-order bonus with some questionable in game outfits.

About This Game
The game that defined the survival-horror genre is back! Check out the remastered HD version of Resident Evil.

In 1998 a special forces team is sent to investigate some bizarre murders on the outskirts of Raccoon City. Upon arriving they are attacked by a pack of blood-thirsty dogs and are forced to take cover in a nearby mansion. But the scent of death hangs heavy in the air. Supplies are scarce as they struggle to stay alive.

Graphics
More detailed graphics that retain the horror.
The environments come alive with detail thanks to resolution upgrades and non-static 3D models.
Post-processing effects like Bloom filters, which were not easy to do at the time of the original release, have been added to make the HD graphics even more realistic.
High-Resolution Environments - We've increased the resolution of the background environments by recreating them with a mix of high-res static images, plus animated 3D models.

Widescreen Support
Widescreen (16:9) is supported, so players can experience a greater sense of immersion.
In widescreen mode, the screen will scroll. The parts of the screen that get cut off on the top and bottom will scroll into view automatically depending on the character's position.
You can switch the display mode during gameplay in real time.

Sound & New Controls
High-Quality Sound - The audio has been remastered to increase the sampling rate, and of course 5.1ch output is also now supported.
New Controls
You can play using the original control scheme or an alternate control scheme that lets you just push the analog stick to move in the direction you want to go.
You can switch the control scheme during gameplay in real time.

Appears you also get a chance to play Wesker mode once you've beat the game with some of his special abilities. We are receiving Origins Collection with the HD Remaster of orginal game and Zero as well with yet more questionable outfits as a pre-order bonus.

I might have to pick that up though it's a shame the timing of it isn't a bit earlier.

Sigh @ the outfits for Rebecca though  Isn't she meant to be some ridiculously young age?

I had them all on Gamecube but that was a long time ago and somehow I never completed a single one as something always came up. Might pick up the collection to play through and hoping that they all receive a remaster at some point.

EDIT:

Well she is STARS so must be at least 18 but yeah can't say those outfits are great stereotypes in any way, shape or form.

I think the outfits were designed by and voted for by the community, so blame them :p. Resident evil has always had a silly side that is unlocked for doing certain things, like being able to play as a piece of tofu lol.

I am looking forward to this, but felt it was a bit of a let down when I first played it. With the rubbish they are making from scratch i'll happily take this though.

I have nothing against Tofu. He's awesome :p

@neoboy - you're right. I actually assumed she was younger than that because she sounds so childish in Resident Evil 1. Obviously now I think about it that makes little sense but perhaps I'm unfairly judging it based on the kind of cack we have recently seen in MGS.

Well it says you need to complete the game once before Wesker mode becomes available so guess it's purely for replay value and little something extra since this isn't a brand new title.

Oh look another HD remaster

Give it another 7 years and there will be a remaster of the remaster.

Please stop buying remasters otherwise how will gaming evolve and innovate.

A lot of fans of the series feel its devolving, which is why the remasters exist. If they are not going to make new games in the style we know and love then replaying the old classics on the PC rather than a Game Cube and in higher res etc will have to do.

I'm more than happy to pay to have this game added to my collection. Hopefully RE2 will be next.

Exactly, they won't ever capture what RE like back in the day anymore, and the fans know this. Tank controls the old feeling of how it used to play and the frightening camera angles where you wouldn't know what was round a corner.

I was for one am happy they are doing this and especially RE2 since that was my favourite RE game ever.

The game will never evolve into anything good now, I mean look at RE 6/Revelations....

I hate to say it but isn't that just how it is now with most games...

It's just all been done already.

Will have to pick this up, loved the Resident Evil HD REMASTER. :)

Yeah, it was great. As I recall it took you like 6 months to complete :p;)

Yeah. Everyone go buy Resident Evil Revelations 2 instead! Oh..wait...

Well said sir. I purchased Revelations 2 and in hindsight regret doing so, even though it was decent, I would rather not be rewarding Capcom for releasing a game like that when they could be doing so much better using their old formula.

My ROI was a lot higher with Resident Evil Remaster even though I have played it many times.

£12.80 on gmg with 20% off discount code. Don't mind if I do :-)

Totally agree. That is what I did :)

Nice to have all my Resident Evil games ready and available on Steam :D

Ordered from GMG. Just hope it doesnt get delayed like REmake did. Looking forward to finally completing it as I never did on the GC.
