Resident Evil 2 Performance thread

On my Titan Xp overclocked maxed at 4k more often than not I was above 60fps with the occasional dips. Since I've downgraded to a 1080 at 4k with a mixture of max/high and one setting on medium ( away from my pc and can't remember what setting) I get at times above 60fps but the majority is high 40s/mid 50s which for me is perfectly fine. This 1080 is still a little champ!
You sold your Titan?!? :eek::p

Amd's latest driver does have updates for this demo so I'm glad to see them on the ball. This could change for Nvidia once the drivers and the game releases.
Game released Friday. See video above, nvidia frame times are worse than AMDs. Resi 2 is the first game in ages that I have seen frame times on nvidia matching amd.

Is this the fact this is a very well optimised pc title? I think so.

Nvidia still haven't released a game-ready driver for this. I wonder if that will make DX12 work correctly or if it's a fault with the game that needs patching.

I laughed at the game ready 980 Nvidia driver halving frame rate in Battlefield.. but anywho... I agree... Drivers can definitely be optimized and it looks like AMD had a big input into dev of this game and Nvidia not so much if at all, so it isn't surprising. Just like with TWIMTBP'd titles from Nvidia where AMD has little to no input... Not surprising things could be improved.

Took a while for the Vega cards to get up to performance? I'm sure at one point a Vega 56 wasn't as good as a GTX1070 and now that card would smash it, same for 64 vs 1080, it's more like 64 on par with a 1080Ti now.

As always, game performance very much depends on what the game devs choose to do. Vegas were always great in certain titles, but for the most part Nvidia had greater engagement with developers so you'd see more titles favouring them. Sure AMD drivers boosted performance up some as well, but that's not the main story.

I did indeed mate don't use my PC half as much these days and I'm saving for my first house with my girlfriend so the motorbike has gone and I've downgraded my pc, got £350 + 1080 FE for my Titan which I think is a good deal and tbf mate this 1080 kills it! I've realised I don't need to try keep up with the jones's

To be honest that is a good deal. If someone offered that to me, I would take it too now that I have played everything I want with this card :)

are we all playing the same game?

when i turn up some of the settings, my 1080ti grinds to a stop.

playing at 4k so maybe thats the problem here.

Something else I have noticed. The frame times on Nvidia for this title are so much better than any other game I seen to date. Its like AMDs a smooth line. Once again showcasing just how well this is optimised for the PC.

Perfect example
This is how I see all Nvidia frame times on games lately, compared to AMD is a smooth line.

Lets keep Anthem talk out of this thread, this is just an example.
I often see the same on duderandom84's comparison videos. According to MSI Afterburner AMD's frame time graph looks significantly smoother. Of course this may be a problem with MSI Afterburner or duderandom's system so it requires further testing, but it is surprising.

Plays perfectly fine for me. Locked at 57fps with a few dips here and there. Want me to show you my settings?

The real question is how it performs with a 1070 ti.

I have a bottom end 1080 so probably about the same as a good 1070ti.

Plays rock solid 1080p 60fps with 130% image quality, max settings and taa and 2gb textures.

The game says it needs 6.6 gig of vram for these settings by the way. So it seems silly Nvidia only using 6gb for midrange cards.
