Resident Evil : Code Veronica

The story has just turned into a crazy convoluted mess I feel.

The original few games storyline of a small American town that had a dark secret of a bio weapons lab in it which goes horribly wrong was brilliant. But they've just gone more and more over the top, dare I say it, very 'Japanese' in the way it's moved from Zombies to seeing characters with superhuman powers and stuff.

To me it just feels that it's so far away from where the original story is and what made that so good.

I didn't think 4 was that far removed from the story, but 5 did seem rather jilted.

Because 4 & 5 are so much different, for one they aren't scary at all, partly because they are more focused on action but they also lack a lot of the eerie atmosphere the old games had.

They should just bring back the older style but with tighter gameplay, similar to Dead Space, the gunplay in 4 & 5 was also terrible, the enemies bounce all over the sodding place and the weapon sounds are poor. It feels like a third person House of the Dead at times.

I also thought 4 was moderately scary in places too, well, when I faced that boss transforms in the shed, I may have changed my pants :p

suprisingly, nemesis was also one of my favorites, up there with the 2nd game! i remember going to town with my dad and buying resident evil 2. i had butterflies in my stomach all the way home in anticipation to play it (was only like 11/12 i think), as i absolutely hammered the demo. everything about the first 3 games are so much superior to the later games such as 4 and 5. i literally played 5 for 2 hours and jacked it in. it felt "too" arcadey, and had literally no scares in it!

even the music on the 1st 3 games had me in chills. anyone else liked creating new and more powerfull ammo in nemesis? or was it just me ? :D i loved the gun with the scope on the top you had to find parts for and put together.

edit: as above, the mercs mini game with Carlos was good too

I have small tear in my eye at the fact that this is 2010 and we are talking about a game that came out 10 years ago.

Beautiful just beautiful.

i wish there was a device where it could zap my brain and make me forget about a game completely, so i have a new experience every time i play it, now that would be awesome!

I subscribe to this philosophy..... (albeit a ten year lag in this case)

its all about the first one on PSone. made blowing up zombies officially cool!

the WORST voice acting to animation ever.....brilliant

"its a lockpick....maybe you the master of unlocking can use it"

"hope...this...is...not..chris'...blood!"

"Jill step away from the door...IM GONNA KICK THIS DOOR DOWN" - cue door being lightly kicked and opening normally!

*Enters Door to shop*

Shop keeper - "Who are ya, whaddya doin here!?"

*cocks shotgun*

Claire/Leon -"DONT SHOOT!!! IM HUMAN!!!"

*brief silence*

Shop keeper -"Phew...sorry about that.."

the last sentence would change with either leon or claire. i always chuckled when i imagined the babe bit added onto leons part of the game. heh :D

I have this lying around somewhere, but I think it's one of few resident evils I never got around to completing.

Just got my Dreamcast VGA box, no way in hell does the PS2 version look better. ;)

Actually this practically looks better than the Wii version of Resident Evil 4.
