I thought the dreamcast version I played through was good, but I believe the n64 version has a few bonus bits on it... not entirely sure on the exclusivity though.

Thoughts on Nemesis so far:
- dodge button still 'really doesn't work'
- the monster (nemesis) and how he constantly follows you is actually pretty horrible. It's creepy and scary, but I'm not sure that having the feeling of being chased throughout the game is much fun. It's more disturbing than fun, as opposed to being disturbing AND fun.

Then again, I always found pacman too scary :D

RE2 was so frustrating, I remember renting it on the PS, me and my brother spent ages trying to kill at the zombies after the truck crash (right at the start) before realising you don't have to kill evey zombie (because its impossible, they keep coming back)

RE5 was good, I've got it on the PSMove and it intergrates really well

He's like Mr. X on roids. :(

Yep :(

I'm playing through on hard and remembered that if you kill him when you meet him, he starts dropping bits and pieces of secret weapons.

I must have tried to kill him about 5 million times, before I finally gave up having thrown my controller to the ground for what must have been the 5 millionth time. Dodge button is a LIE! I also read that he always punches you with his left arm, so if you run to his right you can avoid his melee attacks, pretty neat.

I was a bit annoyed at one point where I distinctly remember being told I had the choice to jump out of the window or to hide from nemesis. I knew he would be coming so I went around the corner to find him coming towards me, waiting for the 'quick time event' to occur. Instead, he waltz straight up to me and gave my arse a royal kicking, the QTE didn't activate so I had to limp away from the building to the best of my ability... only to have him jump down and almost finish me off just before I was about to exit to the safety of another corridor.

Aghhhhh go away! :( *sob*

Still not as scary as the squiggly zombies from RE0 though :D

I found that whilst you don't have to kill every zombie, if you do kill them they don't 'come back' (there are a few occasions where rooms respawn zombies after certain events have occured AFAIK), not like how the come back in the remake anyway (evil crimson heads).

Maybe we just ran out of ammo before we killed them all then, in any case, took us a few attempts to realise that running from them was a viable option lol

I'm pretty sure nobody cares about this thread me, but I'm going to update it anyway :D

I think what I find frustrating about the series pre-RE4 is how unforgiving the gameplay can be, particularly in regard to instadeath scenarios whereby you simply have to learn what not to do by trial and error - the save system means you might be playing for 30 minutes or more with loads of ammo and health items, then just die on the spot. This is exactly what happened to me today in RE3, fell into an underground tunnel and this worm monster nommed me in one as soon as I went around a corner. It was so goddamn cheap! It then happened again when fighting against nemesis. I wouldn't mind so much if restarting was more instantaneous, but going through the menus, loading the game and seeing that damn text loading screen for the upteenth time really does get annoying.

Still, having some good fun with. I'm enjoying the sense of flow in RE3 thus far, pushing forward through the streets and I like how there isn't too much backtracking (honestly Code Veronica is so bad in this regard). Currently at the clocktower.

I love the re series... I am, like most, not a fan of the parasites and want propper zombies and mutants. That said re4 is still one of my fav games of all time. A couple of bits that stood out for me were the battle with the twin bosses (I almost pooped my pants when I had left the grate over the lava open and got a bit too close) and the area with the cages over the ravine. I also loved those horrible monsters that regenerate and you have to use the thermal scope to take out it's parasites... The horrible noise they used to make was creepy!

I enjoy reading your posts, I just don't have as much to say about Resident Evil as you do, Metal Gear Solid or Fallout on the other hand... :p

Seeing as you're the messiah of RE4 I have a question for you; can you alter the difficulty on your second playthrough? I've just started my first play on the HD version on medium difficulty and I want to get all of the trophies which requires a playthrough on hard. Can I just play it through on medium and then carry all my items and stuff across into the hard mode?

Recently played RE4 for the first time due to it being remade in HD on the PS3 and really enjoyed it. Doesn't help though when two of your housemates constantly tell you "I've got many rare things on sale stranger!" in the traders voice though!

Code veronica is very hard and amazingly unforgiving unless you have very good vision or just get lucky due to how the drops work and where good items are placed. I was stuck right at the start of the game due to running out of ammo and needing to get past 8 zombies and 2 dogs in a very small area, yet my housemate went and found 2 submachine guns and ran threw that section after I gave up lol.

In regards to the tyrant on the plane section, thats where I got stuck on and ended up leaving it. Really poorly designed boss encounter on what was a very good game upto that point.

Resident Evil 3 is the best one by far for me, what a game. Resident Evil 2 was a close 2nd and Resident Evil 1 after that. Stopped playing them after the 3rd one, started to go downhill. Still the best series of games ever though just for the first 3 games!

Would love to see them remake 2 or 3, Raccoon City is the best horror survival location ever!!

I remember pre-ordereing Code Veronica on Dreamcast back in 2000 (man I feel old!), loved every minute of it, definitely my favourite in the series. Ahh Alfred, that bloke sure had issues hahah.

CV was the second RE game I played, the first was the original on the Sega Saturn, definitely the scariest, especially the dogs bit lol

I found 2/3/Zero OK as they were essentially more of the same. RE 4 was refreshing and very satisfying to play. Ashley's reaction when you try looking up her skirt always makes me laugh lol

Waiting for RE 5 to show up on the Steam Xmas Daily deals as it's the only one I haven't played yet. Hoping maybe Santa 5UB can gift it to me ^^

For me the best was the original then the remake i brought a gamecube just to play the remake :)
Then it was 2 and 3 then CV

I did not see the point of zero it kind of ruined the story a bit. You play Rebecca the medic from RE1 who fights her way through loads of zombies and leeches only to make her way to the RE1 mansion then she locks herself in one of the save rooms, then when you bumb in to her in RE1 as Chris she is scared sh##less and does not have a clue what is going on.

RE 4 and 5 were good i really enjoyed playing them 4 is one of my all time favorite games but they did not feel like a RE game they should have given them different titles followed by staring Leon S Kennedy and Chris Redfield.

If they make a 6 they need to bring back the zombies and the Tvirus i miss the zombies and the Tyrant. :D

It's there right now as part of the publishers deal. Go to the Capcom section and you can see it for under £7.

Errr, I honestly don't know :o

I seriously doubt they would let you take all your items to a harder setting though.

"WELLLLLLLLLLL-COMMMM!"

There isn't any randomly spawning enemies or 'drops' in RE:CV as far as I'm aware, but I'm glad you share my frustration on that stupid boss, grrrr

Hopefully I'll finish off RE3 this evening :)
