Resistance 2 info OMG!!! ( if true)

AF is apparant in a lot of games I've played on the XBox360.

I think all games i have played have had at least 4X AF, it would be horrendous if not. I think the Xbox has nicer AF but the PS3 can do further distance AF. Burnout on the Xbox has nicer AF as it isnt blurred as much on distant objects.

I thought the single player was the part that was going to be awesome? I swear E3 05 had a video that looked amazing and I thought that the PS3 would dominate with those graphics that it showed. Movie-esq and very cinamatic

All the E3 '05 videos were bs though, pre-rendered nonsense.
Some people like it, but many of those that do also claim it was only the final 25% that was good.

You'll see lots of opinions on it (mostly my negative ones in fairness :p) if you search the console section. If I hadn't bought a PS3 just for it I would probably have liked it more.

Killzone was first shown as a pre-rendered video, but the showing at e3 07 was easily the best graphics yet shown on a console, gameplay has yet to be proven but in graphics it is the best yet displayed on this generation so far.

Resistance 1 was a solid game which IMO offered good value for money, and Resistance 2 sounds like it's going to do the same + more :)

8 player co-op sounds to good to be true tbh, but I trust Insomniac to deliver as they normally do.

I didn't like Resistance MP at all. But that's just me. It doesn't feel right. It feels like it was designed as a single player title first and foremost, with the multiplayer as an afterthought (although the network latency performance and high number of players indicate otherwise). Some maps even lack proper lighting. There are brick walls and fences that don't even have radiosity baked on them.

Good value for money? It was £40/£45 at retail on a £425 console.

I'm pretty sure it was £40 at retail even in the high street stores, and for that you got a good length SP game (14-15 hrs I believe), 2 player co-op and 40 player MP on dedicated servers with plenty of maps. In comparison to some games (i.e. Heavenly Sword) I would say that's good value.

If you spent £425 on the PS3 for just this game, well your a fool.

oO

We'll just have to agree to disagree I think. Out of curiosity, what games do you think packs a more graphical punch?

Screens like these aren't even doctored in any way at all, we have all seen the gameplay trailers and seen it run in-real time. It takes a lot to say it's not spectacular.

I don't think it looks spectacular (from the link you posted), it looks good but thats it.

In places on the screenshots the textures are for want of another word rubbish and what is up with the grass / twig things on the ground in screenshot 7

Yeah, it was pretty foolish given the sub-standard launch line up, but at least Motorstorm turned out to be a good laugh.

Indeed, unfortunately most of the games for the PS3 up until christmas time were short on features or length. Not surprising really as the console needed games and fast.

Resistance was one of the few games which offered a lot more content than most and thus was better received by the public, and still is tbh. My daughters Guiness Book of Records lists it as the biggest selling PS3 game to date but obviously the book was published late last year so that's probably changed now?

I believe it still is the biggest selling PS3 game as it was the biggest title on launch and then the title in most game bundle deals.

Motorstorm is the best selling PS3 game now (just) it was a bundle game with all the US 80 Gb and also was in the PAL bundle with RFOM.
Anyway listen to the full moon podcast this week (think its Thursday or Friday), its insomniacs own podcast and will probably have more info on Resistance 2. It is also supposed to be shown at GDC in Feb, by the sound of the Insomniac presentation speech.
