No, not a new Matrix film, but a question/discussion about what resolutions best suit people.:D

My newish HDTV runs at 1080p, but obviously you can change it to 720 if you want. tbh, i can't see much difference between the 2.

However, when gaming, my 5850 will play everything completely maxed out at 720, but struggles just a wee bit at 1080 in some games such as BC2, when playing online and crysis(what doesn't?). Dropping res, i see a slight drop in sharpness, but not really that much.
I was planning to crossfire soon, but am not sure now, as i'm fairly happy with 720, or do you think i will be missing out?
What would you do?
What res are you happy with?

cheers guys:)

Depends on the game, i notice a difference in bad company 2 with 1080 and 720. But other games i play (war craft 3, codmw1, starcraft 2, live for speed, rfactor, new vegas ) i dont notice any difference so i usely keep on which gives me smooth gameplay which usely ends up being 1080 as my 460gtx can handle those games

i reckon i will probably crossfire and go up to 1080 for online shooters, as i would prefer to keep a high fps, the 5850 alone would be ok, but i'm not sure about the fps on the likes of BC2, Crysis 2 at 1080p

If you can't see much difference between 720P and 1080P can I suggest you purchase a console, as a PC is obviously wasted on you :p;)

EDIT: maybe some glasses as well?

that's harsh:(

i do notice a differnce, it's just a bit meh...

haven't thought it was worth playing at 1080p, with less fps when playing online.

With LCD's you really need to play with whatever the native resolution is, otherwise the image becomes really blurry from having to resize, not sure of the exact reason but native resolution is always noticeably clearer.
