Retrieve mails from pop in google mail?

gmail does support pop3 i use it everydaywith outlook, theres a help link on the gamil site take a look at it it gives u exaples of setup with just about every client

Correct, it doesn't. But why would you want to? Gmail should be your only email address! :p
Hotmail for spam!

Right, thats means giving up a few e-mails address of small websites I'm taking care of.

Hmm, I am thinking of switching over to google mail. I wasn't impressed with yahoo's new outlook style mail as it slows down too much. Any positive & negative experience with google mail? :)

Have had Gmail for two years now I think?

Best. Email. I've. Ever. Use.

Not one complaint about it from me, always works and very reliable. Can send you an invite for it if you want? As you can't just register on it. :)

Used Gmail for ages as a central point to collect all my email and never had a problem. It can't retrieve mail from other pop3 accounts if that's what you mean, but if you can set up those accounts to autoforward to Gmail it'll work fine (I have my ISP mail account, uni mail account and domain mail all set to forward to gmail). Once your mail is in Gmail then you can use pop3 to access it all.

Just remember if you live in the UK and want an @gmail.com rather than @googlemail.com address you need to accept the invite through a non-UK proxy server.

Edit: Just thought i'd add, the best thing about Gmail is the simple interface with no banner ads, just discrete text ads that are easily ignorable. Plus it's a lot faster than hotmail. Using it as a central email collection point is made all the better as you can set Gmail up to appear to send mail from the other addresses you own, saving you time logging into those to send a message from that account.

Ok, thanks. I haven't thought about autoforwarding on other e-mail accounts.

Oh, I already have google mail for few months now but I didn't check it out until recently and was impressed with how quickly it loads.

EDIT: Yes, I found out now that my other accounts support autoforwarding so I guess it is much easier than clicking every time to retrieve mails from each account! Thanks!

yes it does..

in Gmail, Settings, Forwarding and POP

in there, there's instuctions of how to set it up for pop3 usage.. personally i prefer using the webbased version, but on my sisters machine i've setup pop for her

-you can set it so if you view an emial in pop3, then it'll autoarchive the email on gmail (will be marked as read and put into the 'All Mail' label)

even if you have an @googlemail address, you can still send to it using @gmail (it just appears differently in the top of your gmail account)

That is for e-mail clients, it's not what I meant.

We were talking about receiving messages from other account within google webmail, not via Outlook Express.
