Retro console and games thread

its a BAD BAD place lol

I know what I am going to be doing tomorrow now....

I might have lost my little setup for a while as well. I made the mistake of picking up House of the Dead: Overkill* on the Wii. My wife is hooked to it now. :o:p

*I would get the original on the DC but the TV I use doesn't support the light gun required.

Been playing super Mario world on the wii with the GameCube controller, and I can't see why people rate the controller as the best!?

Admittedly I'd never had a GameCube at time of release, and my hands have mutated and moulded into the playstation controllers, but the more I use it the more disappointed I am with it.

The analogue stick has a big dead zone, so it's right at the edge and far to loose in control, the d pad is too small and tight. The button layout it's that responsive especially the big green button.

It was comfortable to use to start of with, but I got hand cramp after a while which I don't get even using the master system controller.

I might have to plug in my snes as really rate the controller as one of the best; if not the best.

Yeah exactly that. Full collection tracking, forums, news etc. Really great site :)

If you click on the link I posted earlier for my profile it shows the kind of things you get. All free too :)

After losing my retro storage to my newborn son (worth it though) I have been relegated to a small storage room on the back of the house. Spent yesterday moving stuff around so I could carry the TV out there....

I'm in the process of trying to get rid of the fruit machine, if my friends future wife will allow him to take it. :o

Just wish I had the space; as I would get an arcade machine; out of intreast; if you don't mine me asking, how much does something like that go for?

Thanks

Uhmmm I guess what people want to pay really, I just dug through my emails and it cost me £190 in 2008

I had to replace the motherboard battery a couple of years ago as it melted so I was pleasantly surprised to see it all working fine yesterday and quite enjoyed playing it again. Does take a bit of room though in my limited space now...

It's just as well you asked, I was about to sell it for £50 to someone lol, now I'll have to consider again (though I do just want the space back now) :o

Taking my 1st steps towards fixing my Neo Geo MVS, the diagnostic chips have been programmed and should hopefully be with me tomorrow, 2 part affair, 1st replace the BIOS chip which is easily removed, but the 2nd part requires replacing the M1 chip on a working game.

My new solder sucker turned up today, so decided to get a game prepped. Super Sidekicks is to be my willing sacrifice for the greater good, I'll put it back together once I get everything working though. :p

Took out PROG and CHA board.

Then removed the M1 chip from the CHA board.

Messy work without any cleaning chemicals and no solder braid, but should only be temporary. Just hoping those chips turn up tomorrow.

Is it sad of me that I'm so excited about finally getting my offical Sony component AV cable today and seeing what the Playstation 2 can actually do.. :D

My EPROM's turned up today. :)

Got some error reports, just waiting on the Neo Geo guru's to let me know what the actually fault is.
