Buy from a local market one of the stall holders came with boxes of random games this morning so I was having afield day lol. He said he bought them all of a guy from a local Carboot off one guy, but he's very reasonable charges less then half of eBay prices and less if u buy a few.
Thats a great start to retro gaming! Your like me a go all out and get loads of stuff in one go hahaha! Does that Temporary TV have a VGA input? I'd be tempted to get a VGA box for your DC and run it in full VGA glory!
Also, Get a Orignal Mega Drive 1 with the High Definition sound. You are not doing your retro setup any justice missing out that machine.
I'd also add that to that a region free modded Mega Drive is just as important.
Once you've played games full screen at 60hz you won't want to got back to squashed PAL image and slow music.
Just made a quick video on my phone to demonstrate, so quality isn't great but it really shows the benefits.
Some games were optimized sound wise for PAL regions so the audio isn't effected. And some PAL games won't play full screen at 60Hz on a modded system, but plenty of them do.
You can buy region free consoles on eBay or you can send yours off to be modded or do it yourself if you have the skill. Plenty of guides online.
Picked this game up id never heard of before CT Special forces on playstation 1 .
Had quick blast yesterday and its a metal slug type game, think i will be picking up the others in the series now
Ok, so I fancied playing some retro zelda, quick browse on eBay and I've pulled the trigger on a GameCube. Was gonna get an n64 but for retro zelda, I can get the zelda collection, windwaker and twilight princess for the GC. But! Apparently, Majoras Mask doesn't run well on the GC and the virtual console on the Wii is just a direct port from the GC, so that doesn't work well either. So...I'm gonna have to get an n64 too. Which also makes me mega excited haha.
Now, big question is, how bad will this look on an led TVs? Also I'll be connecting it by scart? I take it that's the best way?
The GC itself will be getting stripped down and cleaned inside, it's got a sticky eject button. Super tempted to give it a sand down and spray it some kind of zelda gold. Was only £10 and I've got an airbrush with all the paint.

Well the GC via RGB scart doesn't look to bad at all. Don't have a 64 atm so can't say about that. I'm pretty sure the the euro one doesn't output rgb, need a cetain model of the US one and then to have it modded to get RGB on 64 iirc.

There's always playing GameCube games via the Wii and a component cable on an LCD. Image quality will be better than anything a PAL N64 can output to an LCD.

Depends on the cable I think, sometimes you get an over exposed look on an LCD TV.
You might be able to improve it with a HDMI upscaler.
It doesn't help the way the N64 added a blurry filter to help with image aliasing.
I'm sure someone will be able to give more advice on your option than me. Or you can filter through the last 10-20 pages. It was definitely something that came up recently.
Awesome Cheers. Gonna hold off buying anything else for now till I I've been to a carboot this weekend. Spent way too much this week and that was before the GC and N64 + cables and screwdrivers to dismantle them.
What's everyone's thoughts on spraying them? Best keeping natural or is a new colour an idea. Don't want it looking naff haha.
I just picked up boxed pair of mission 760i and an acoustic solutions amp for 25 quid . That is eventually going to be my retro sound system with the tv
