Retro console and games thread

?

The yellow cable is composite video, basically the second worst way you can connect a console to a TV. It will make the colours murky and image blurry.

Thanks Daz, is Scart significantly better then? the only options I have on this TV is Scart/Composite - Most are using Scart.

However, I've tried both Composite and Scart with the Gamecube and noticed no difference at all.

he was selling a fully boxed manual version of halflife for the dreamcast.
for those that dont know - halflife was NEVER released in boxed form for the dc (no if, buts or maybes it was not released at all)

and he even admitted it was a rommed version where someone had just made up, printed all the other things and put it in a case.

basically hes scum and im glad ebay finally took it down and for a seller of his rating he really should not be pulling that ****.

You have to use a specific RGB scart cable - I imagine you're just using the little random adaptor that plugs the yellow composite lead into a SCART socket. :) Should be about a fiver and you can use the same RGB SCART cable for your SNES/N64/GC.

Got Shenmue 2 for £11 a few months back, and a great condition Megadrive II for a tenner. Have the Shenmue prices really gone up that much recently or did I just get lucky?

lol that eBay auction was taken down in the final mins bet he was rubbing his hands for a moment, last I saw it was near £85.

Wow, I didn't realise how un-retro my retro collection was :p

So here it is in all its "glory"

Consoles (Original Xbox, PS3, DC, PSP, PS1, GC (with GB player), PS2 Slim, N64, DS Lite:

DC, N64, PS3 and PSP Games (Edit: Just realised FF13 and FF Tactics PSP are missing from here):

PS2, Xbox and GC Games:

DS, GBA and GB games I've got boxes for most of the GBA games but they're flattened and put away (I like my hand held rpgs :P):

Other things not in the pics are my PS1 games (at my parents house!), My Commodore Amiga A500+ and games (also at my parents house) and a random box full of cables and controllers

Long way to go before I catch up with others collections :p

Still to get my photos up currently organising all my rooms and don't have the space to unbox it all in one go! Will try get some photos tonight and the rest tomorrow, maybe a genre at a time :)

Mr Orange, if you want that A500+ to survive you should dig it out asap and remove the battery, you will probably find it has already leaked :( If it has I have some tricks to revive it.

Thanks dude :D The tin is a special edition of Super Streetfighter 2, i'm not sure how many they did of those.

The graphics were dazzling back then lol, i can remember playing on my mates snes at school and being awed by the graphics

I remember buying that from Woolworths, it cost like £80 and came with a free pin badge :D

Thanks for the warning! I'm dig it out tomorrow and de batteryfy it.

I'm one lucky person. Just taken the A500+ to bits and the battery was JUST starting to fur up! Just taken a soldering iron to it. It looks like the battery on the RAM board is starting to go too. Thanks again for the heads up! I need to find the power supply (I remember seeing it in my parents garage some time ago) and give it a test run!

In other news the DC version of Shenmue II came through the postbox today!

Check the motherboard underneath the battery and traces surrounding there it starts to eat away at them with the battery leaking. Quick guide to fixing is to put lemon juice on the area for 10 mins then clean off with IPA :)

Hope it still works for you!
