Retro console and games thread

I think people know Sonic and Knuckles is worth a few bob.

Other sellers have in the past sold these 3 for maybe £25 or so.

I just want to play and enjoy them once again then put them in to storage.

I might see if I can bag Sonic 3D cheap.

I have been looking at Sonic CD as I have a MCD2 but I aint paying 40 quid+

I've found Sonic and Knuckles for less than £10, some are buy it now. Seen a few Sonic CD's go for about £15 but I've always missed out on the bid:(

I've got a Sega Megadrive II in full working order and loads of games stored away in a cupboard. This thread makes me want to get it out and start playing on it :D

Yeh...think i'm going to have to get it out :D

How do they look on modern day TV's? I have a 37". Do they fill the screen?

Got around 10 boxed games in mint condition :D

At the minute they seem to be anything from £23-200 on the bay for Sonic CD, I can wait...

I really must back Sonic & Knuckles for old times sake :D

Nope, they have borders which do my head in, I need a 60hz JAP unit for full screen action.

Or if you don't mind opening it up and having a poke around (Solder wires etc) then why not try this :)?

The guys great too, always replies to personal messages so you can turn to him if you run into a problem.

Whats an Amiga 4000 actually useful for now though. The problem they had was not that many games scaled that well at the time and apple stole their market
I hear Amigas in some shape are still made, some guy made a batch of PC in the shape of them also

The compatability between amiga models is pretty bad, especially with older games. There is a tool out now called WHDLoad which lets you install disk based games onto the hard disk and sorts out compatibility issues.

I don't use the 4000 as much as I feel like I should. It would be more useful if I could get a network card for it, but any hardware relating to old case-based amigas costs quite a bit of money now. You are looking at £100+ for a second hand network card. It's difficult to justify spending that amount of money on it.

Deary me, I have 6 Amiga's now

2x A500+
1x A500
1x A600
2x A1200

Becoming a habit now

I must offload some of the lower quality examples I have and keep the pristine boxed ones. :p

I hope someone can help me with this...

I want to record game play from my N64 into my computer. I'm looking into recording speed runs and some "lets play" style videos.

I've seen there are a lot of devices around that can do this but most SD video input cards are PCI and my motherboard doesn't have any PCI slots (PCI-E only)
I don't want to use emulation at all so that is out of the question.

Does anyone have a recommendation on what device I could/should buy for this task?

Thanks a lot :)

I'm looking for some help - I'm moving out soon, and I really need to shift my collection but I'm stupidly busy at work and don't have time to trawl through ebay etc to work out how much I can get for stuff.

I know I've got some good stuff, but I don't know what it's all worth - so if anyone wants to valuate my gear, I'll give them first dibs and a 15% discount on anything they want, obviously I know the rough estimate of some things as I kinda remember what I paid for it all. So don't take the mick when telling me what it's worth so you can nab a good deal ;)

From what I can remember off the top of my head that is of interest:

Mint\VGC boxed SNES FF3 US
Super Famicom Jr
Taiko no Tatsujin with 2 drums
Pop n' Music for PS2 and DC
JPN Donkey Konga
Boxed JPN Saturn Fight Stick (the one which looks like the Astrocity Sega cabs)
DC Fight Stick
Boxed Namco fight stick

Message me in trust if you're interested in helping me out.

Note, I was very Japan centric with my collection, so if you know your Japanese stuff that's a plus.
