Retro console and games thread

Wowsers! I saw someone selling probotector in the MM on the mega drive for £40 and they go even higher on ebay?! I really must go through my old stuff. I still have my mega drive and about 30 games, sega saturn and lots of games, n64+games (boxes in near perfect condition+manuals stored separately) Gamecube and games, Playsation one games, Dreamcast and games (and official Smaba Di amigo maraccas and mat). :P

Might post some pics and have a little play around this weekend if I get bored. I didnt realise how much some of it could still be worth.. I sold some of my other stuff a few years back like Guardian Hereos and Final fantsay 7.

First Neo pickup in a little while being a nice nice condition Metal Slug 3 :) I just spent 2 hours cleaning years of arcade grime from it and now its almost new looking!

Went into a charity shop earlier, was just about to walk out when I seen a boxed Atari jaguar with 3 boxed games and a boxed controller was excited and ready to jump on it until I seen the price.... £175!! And it was untested, I asked if she would take offers but she was fairly bitchy and said I've already dropped it from £250 so I'm not dropping it again. I just don't know where she pulled that price from but It will be sitting there awhile surely it's better to shift it on at a fair price and actually help the charity with the money!

Shame, a charity shop going to same way as eBay. That's what they are NOT there for.

My argument also.

If I wanted something for Ebay prices I would scour Ebay for a few weeks and get a well priced good nick bargain.

What Ebay sell an item for can be a guideline, for example they should not be selling an Ebay £50 game for £1.99, but <£20 is probably more like it.

It defeats the point in charity shops completely.

Superb cleaning job but isn't that a MVS cart in a AES machine? Just can't see a converter anywhere.

It's the MVS in game in a consolised neo geo MVS, the Omega Entertainment Machine. Checkout arcadeworks.net , Quan over at the Neo forums builds them, inside is a genuine 1999 MV-1C MVS board modded for Stereo sound, built-in PSU, virtual memory card and Unibios 3.2.

I bought it a few months ago and its an amazing looking machine, to play the real deal arcade hardware at home but not use up half the room for a cab for me is fantastic. Also MVS games are way cheaper than the AES home versions. The Unibios even allows you to play MVS games in AES mode if you want to since the rom chips are exactly the same.

Here is my baby:

£6

But it was worth it, there hasn't been an Amstrad version for a very long time available for sale and the ZX Spectrum version went for £40

Grats on the purchase, no.3's on my purchase list, just waiting to get it at a decent price. ;)

Thanks :) I picked up it for £35 plus shipping from Greece, I've checked the boards and its 100% genuine board set 1. I have just ordered Slug X from the same seller as an xmas present to myself :cool:I'm going to take a break from buying any more carts for a few months as its becoming an addiction but hope to get Blazing Star next.

I'm actually talking to a guy at the moment about getting Metal Slug 3, when I saw your post, I went to my usual forum and started looking around. ;)

Blazing Star is an amazingly fun game, if you can put up with the constant yelling of "BONUS!" :p, but if you like your old skool shooters, Pulstar is definitely worth keeping an eye out for, just a shame the price for it can be a bit insane at times :(.

On the plus side from me, finally got my MVS home.
Now the proud owner of 3 boards now, 1 that's Z80'd on me and 2 working.

I though 1 of the other boards was dodgy when I started to get no sound, so I ordered another board which had exactly the same problem. I ended up taking them to work so I could re-wire my whole setup and check it out.

In the end, what had happened was that my sound cable had broken off and I followed the wrong JAMMA diagram. I put 1 lead in the wrong bloody place which was causing all my problems :o
Then I managed to cut the wires on the controller ports short, so I had to solder on new leads to the JAMMA connector.

Anyway, my babys finally home.

Also upgraded here with a fan at the back. :p

I call her the MVS Box Mk 1.1, wonder if I can start marketing her like the Omega? What do you reckon, £800 a pop? :D
Seriously though, I have been thinking of putting together a beginners guide to MVS, just to help out other people who are as clueless as me when it comes to wiring these things.

Awesome work there, I'd love to get my hands dirty doing some modding. I really fancy a super-gun at some point so I could get some Capcom CPS-2 boards like SSFT2 and X-men. One day..... For now I have a mod-chip for a PSOne that I need to sort out but I'm scared to as the solder points are so small :(
