Retro console and games thread

Ok i may have been a bit dopey! Had dreamcast in av 1, and megadrive in av2. Playing the megadrive it looked ok but wasnt really too sure if it was working right or not. Looked online and turns out only av1 supports rgb lol!

Plugged megadrive in there and it is noticibly more crisp and nice :) so if i get a splitter in av1 will it carry the rgb signal across however many scarts the splitter would take?
 
Yeah has alex kid. It was £9 +p&p so I guess begger can't be choosers lol

Thinking about being brave and doing the AV mod on it

As long as the switch box supports RGB it should do it yep

I keep looking at the snes more and more now lol

If I was to buy the unit, just on its own (I have a snes PSU) without controllers, games, leads etc, what sort of price would you buy one for ?

Unless there's something I am missing amongst that lot, I wouldn't have thought so. There's just no demand for NTSC-J games in Europe.

To add to my Megadrive/PS1 and PS2 collection just woke a Gamecube with 3 games for £25 on the bay :D. What's the best way to connect it to an LCD TV?

Be very careful with the on/off switch if you're taking it apart. Don't be tempted to remove it from the shell as the clips that hold it in are incredibly brittle. I've broke a few this way trying to deep clean them. :(
 
So if I want to get another snes again, not for collecting, which is the cheaper ones to get that will work on my LED TV? (i.e. JAP , US or UK system)

The Super Famicom. The hardware is similarly priced to the PAL SNES but the games are ridiculously cheap. Do a search for 'english-friendly super famicom games' there's plenty advice online.

Or you could just get a Games Master. They're about £20-25 and will let you play NTSC-U and NTSC-J on your PAL SNES.

Edit: Sorry, I just reread your post. If you don't have a PAL SNES then that's what I would get first. I don't know how you could play PAL games on a US/JP console.
