Hey all,

I bought some shoes on Saturday, and when buying them, the guy said if you're not happy with them, just come back and we'll give you a full refund, so long as the shoe isn't worn. So I've worn them for a bit today in the office (took my other pair with me too) and found them to be destroying my feet, so I'd like to return them. Would I be right in saying I can return them without problems?

Regards,

even if you haven't worn them they still don't legally have to get you a refund do they? unless they are broken etc..

If you'd bought them online then this of course is where the distance selling act would come into play.
However as you bought them from a High Street store and had every opportunity to try them on first and to inspect them then it's totally up to the store now if they are going to accept them back for a refund or not.
Expect an offer of store credit.

AFAIK you can't wear them outside - that's considered 'worn' - so that'd include your work. However, it's at the shop's discretion as to whether they offer you a refund. Just neglect to mention that you wore them at work and just say you tried them on at home and they weren't suitable.

Don't mention you've worn them (unless they're obviously been worn) and just say you've bought a different pair.

So I've worn them for a bit

Think about it for a second.. the only way you could return them is technically by defrauding the shop and implying you've never worn them..

He said worn as in, damaged or the leather creased in anyway. If that helps.

They will laugh at you. The only way a shop will return them is if they can then sell them on. If you have worn them then the shop would have to throw them in the bin so i very much doubt that they will give you a refund.

New shoes always hurt mate. They just need to be worn in.

Tell them you never wore them outside of the house and you should have no problems. I got convinced to buy a pair of shoes by someone i was with, wore them out to the pub once and decided [a] they were horribly uncomfortable and didnt look great with most of my jeans/trousers. I took them back and got a refund with no problems.

I'd like to add that if they are only "destroying" your feet, that may get better over time. Most new shoes will take a bit of wearing in.
