peak power on my car is 200rpm over the redline and about 200rpm before the limiter so not all cars run out of puff at the redline

And I'd bet 90% of the ones you know are retards too!
High revs are ok once in a while, blow out the crap etc, tbh its a waste of time to redline anything be it a Corsa or a Cosworth as your long past peak power & torque.
Even retards know that, erm, I think.![]()
Being a 1.2 you'll want to thrash it until the valves pop out and dance on the bonnet to get any sort of "performance" out of it.
As May says![]()
done that, and now the ECU light is on......oops

Not always true if you want maximum performance. In some vehicles, shifting JUST before the redline is the best way to get somewhere quick!High revs are ok once in a while, blow out the crap etc, tbh its a waste of time to redline anything be it a Corsa or a Cosworth as your long past peak power & torque.
Maybe it's just me, but I hit the rev limiter in 3rd the first time I drove a car on the public road unaided. To say you've never revved hard in >1 week of driving seems impossible to meFor the first time ever I revved my car hard today. On a long, empty open road near me.
rev it as high as you want, it wont die.
When you get threads like 'How did people drive anywhere before motorways?' is it any surprise i've taken to browsing these boards on the assumption that everyone is completely retarded unless I know who it is?
