I found the sound to be just as good as my Modi & Vali setup and the equal of the Essence STU and Silverstone combo - then it has all those other features.

The only downsides were it's made of plastic rather than a nice solid metal chassis and it's at the mercy of Creative's drivers.

I've been having a good trawl through the Creative forum and there don't seem any real complaints about the drivers, which is a pleasant surprise. Did you have any issues or was it ok for you?

Was fine for me, I've collared a few people who have it in their flare on Reddit headphones for feedback they've all had good things to say

I had no problems with it whatsoever, I was thinking further down the line, Creative are not known for keeping their drivers updated.

Great, thanks. Going to be looking for another set of headphones to go with it as well I think. I'm currently using a pair of Dt770 pros (250) for everything, (which are great) but I'm thinking of getting separate ones for gaming and music.

I am very happy with my setup: Sennheiser HD650 for music and AKG K702 for gaming (and music when the fancy takes me)

Has anyone used this and the NAD D 3020. Is this better?

The more I think about this little (or quite big) unit the more I think its for me ! I dont think I'd lose much if anything over my STX & iCan Micro, plus it would open up SLI should I needed later on (as I have a mATX)

The other HeadFi review use's the iCan to a likeness in sound sig, I'd need to sell of my STX & iFI iCan micro to fund towards it but overall I like it ! the winning part of the unit is a Mic on the device, so many other DAC/Amp miss this off but thats cos their not a gaming device where this is & more !!!!

The only parts that put me off is the Yellow round the volume (early ones/modles show red inside & I think it looks better) & the overall shape, I dont think it looks that nice & wouldnt fit under my monitor due to its hight, Personal thing I guess but I'd get over it.

I really really wanted that volume knob to have a blue illumination around it - I'd recently been testing the Asus Essence One

I did look at that before I bought the STX but does it have Mic inputs ?

The Essence One? No, no mic inputs, just a straight stereo Amp & DAC

I can live without the light up dial but I wonder what lead them to believe yellow was the way to go, most of their other stuff is Red

Well it's a gold, metal finish rather than yellow and lately more of their stuff has had gold on it to appease their far eastern markets

Hmmm, ASUS did the same with their mobo's & I didn't like them ether. Must be a region thing as you say ! Shame it not removable but I'll have to get over it...

Its something we're going to have to get used to because instead of America, it's China, India and Korea that are their biggest markets now, so we will have to get used to their blingy tastes.
