US: Revolution

I love Sci-Fi like this and stories set up like this, but I can't deny this is written really poorly.

There is so much stupid in it and how
the "gunships" took off and swung around and lined up waiting to attack? What was that about? Why would they just hover there? It wouldn't happen!

On top of that, when they esacped? The gunners couldn't even hit a group without any cover in a field?
Brain hurts.

Well i must say i was hugely dissapointed by the first two episodes that aired last night on Sky 1.

It was just too stupid and i can't think of a single plausible reason that they will have for electricity not working...but working for people with little pendants

The brother and sister (especially the brother) annoyed the hell out of me:

Brother: asthma attack, gets his father killed, gets kidnapped, asthma attack, gets caught, has a stupid voice.

and the girl;

"ooo no you cant kill him in cold blood" - next scene when they need someone to shoot someone in the face in cold blood " YEH i will do it", next scene after killing said person " ooo im so depressed i just killed two people" Pfft, a monkey could write a better script than this

heh, you've already seen the best bits of the whole show.

Same opinion here, I'll watch anything vaguely Sci-fi, and had hoped it would have a much darker feel like the "Walking Dead". I had a beer and pizza to get through otherwise I'm not sure I'd have watched the first two episodes through. I will continue to watch for now in the hope it picks up.

Just finished watching the second episode. Shoddy acting, gaping holes in the storyline, lots of nice CGI to make up for the lack of decent acting.

Terrible program, won't be watching again. I am mildly interested in finding out what caused aeroplanes to drop out of the sky though!

Watching the second episode (catching up) and I'm not certain I will bother watching many more. The main female charlie is just so irritating. I mean relly why not make her a bit less annoying.

Oh and the bit where a bloke is on top of her pushing down to kill her and after holding him off she literaly throws him back before shooting him with a crossbow. I mean really she's now wonder woman

Just .... irritating nonsense, but will the plot development make it worthwhile (I liked Flashforward over all and was dissapointed that it ended)

... Not really.

There are a few interesting moments and scenes as the story develops, but it doesn't really improve overall. Even the "big reveal" about why the lights went out was very much underwhelming. If you're flagging after two episodes, it might be worth calling it quits. So many better shows out there to watch instead.

I recall one particular episode (involving the main characters travelling through a tunnel...) being some of the worst, most ridiculous TV I've ever seen.

Really?! You're the last person I would have expected to enjoy this :p Not exactly high-brow entertainment!

Out of curiosity, what is it in particular that you're enjoying about it?

It's easy watching, I like the premise and the scenario (I'm not particularly bothered that it is full of holes, its entertainment not a science lesson) and I like the main two characters, Miles and Charlie, even if the latter is a bit dumb half the time. It's obviously pretty formulaic and obvious holes like why can two things be powered in a field, yet other things in that field are not, point to poor scriptwriting, but I coud say the same about other shows that went on to be extremely popular and improved as series went on. (STTNG, DS9).

It's not taxing or pretentious, it is just mild entertainment and it passes 45 painlessly.

I liked Terra Nova as well, and the other shows mentioned in this thread.

Fair enough...

I *really* wanted to like it - I love the post-apocalyptic setting, and the "no more electricity" premise was an interesting spin (more original than nuclear war or an alien invasion etc). I guess I just find it too difficult to see past the poor dialogue and obvious plot holes.

Bit of a guilty pleasure really. Watching it whilst there's a drought of good new series.

Game of Thrones, season 3 back on tonight at 9:00..:):):)

And Defiance begins on Sy Fy, 16th April.. Looks a little like Falling Skies meets Firefly..

Think it was a good season opening, more use of electricity, a few more scientist involved, and a few more oddities that need answering.
Think this will be a improvement on a half decent show.

Just watched this through to Ep12. I think its ok but then again I watch anything on TV.

I agree though that some things are a bit daft but still good for some bedtime tv.
