Ribeye: Gas BBQ VS Cast Iron Griddle Pan

I went with the BBQ, and they were VERY good but it wasnt hot enough really, didn't get a proper crust. Still was a beautiful texture and definitely had the bbq taste.

To those saying "it's not a proper bbq so it doesnt taste any different" are chatting crap. Yes a proper charcoal bbq is better, but a gas bbq gives you 90% of the taste with 1% of the hassle, they are brilliant and I can't wait to be able to afford a proper one.

Yep they are talking crap but that doesn't stop the same argument every summer :D Another area ocuk knows better than science and just about every expert in the bbq field.

I agree it's more alpha to use fire but that's about it. Anyway I will leave that argument this year, it's got boring doing it every year since 2005 :D

It should have got hot enough on propane.

Make sure you shop around well for a new BBQ, lots of people have ditched lava rock in favour of flavourising bars. I'm not a fan of them. I much prefer to be able to lay stuff on the lava rock like woodchips of some herbs.

pretty much agree with you on that one. I've got 7 assorted bbqs mainly charcoal, I cook on them all year round, multiple times a week. If you are grilling food for short periods of time you pretty much can't tell the difference. I've done blind taste tests with staff from weber and again couldn't really tell the difference. Both charcoal and gas have there pros and cons but for short cooks they both produce great tasting food.
