Richmond sausages - why

Kids eat them.
That’s my thoughts. Bizarrely when I was a kid the poorer the quality and the lower the meat content of sausages the more I enjoyed them!

I remember being at a BBQ recently where they had lovely quality steak beef burgers yet the kids there all wanted rustlers microwave burgers instead!

I knew someone who said she'd only eat Richmond sausages.

Turned out she had some really weird ideas about food, and couldn't bear eating foods with multiple textures. So a proper sausage for her was inedible, because inside you'd have slightly tougher bits and slightly softer bits.

Whereas, Richmond, basically being a smooth paste the entire way through, was perfect.

Go figure.

The younger my kids were they liked them. Now they are older they like better quality ones. They are really plain flavor as well as low meat.

I rate most 'standard' supermarket brand sausages above Richmond, and pretty much all 'Deluxe' supermarket brand ones.

Finest/Taste The Different/Deluxe from Tesco/Sainsburys/Lidl are all well above Richmond. If I want to treat myself but can't get to a proper butcher, Black Farmer is where it's at for me.

When I come back to visit I always buy Richmond sausages lol.

There's something so mechanically reclaimed pastey tasting good about them that goes well in rancid English supermarket white bread too :p

You can get premium sausages anywhere. But finding mass production raw sausages is a real treat to me.

I've become so accustomed to Swedish/German style now. It sucks.

The newer Rustlers offerings are actually not bad if very processed - miss the mark a bit for a beef burger but quite savoury - probably the kind of appeal of like Sunny Delight in the 90s.

Not sure what the brand was, maybe white label kind of thing bought by the catering company, but I went to an event the other day which had low meat content burgers very similar to the Rustlers ones which were actually quite nice though again missed the mark for a beef burger but quite satisfying - I actually kind of preferred them as the consistency was better than your average beef burger.
