Just watched.

A mate went to see this live, said it was amazing - i guess you had to be there. Thought Ricky was more like a rambling drunk you find in your local 'Spoons.

I love Ricky, very clever individual and although i prefer his TV shows, some of his previous stand up is very funny and satirical, but Armageddon? I think i chuckled once or twice, the rest of it was boring or just not funny.

In my opinion he relies a bit too much on, I don't want to day "reusing older material", but if not reusing then it's like hitting the same notes with a different tempo. This is especially egregious to those of us that know his stuff, I can't imagine it is as noticeable to most people.

Will watch with mid expectations. I also got very very tired of After Life, partly because of the grief porn nature of it, as well as for the above.

Thought it was a bit crap tbh. Although I generally find his stand up to be very hit and miss anyway. Started playing cyberpunk on thr laptop after 15 odd minutes and just had it on as back ground noise

Same old material, but I still laughed at most of it. Not really that different to humanity and supernature.

Saw it live as well when the show was in Barcelona a few months back. I counted the streaming as watching it a second time. Laughed more at home then I did when it was live.

It wasn’t remarkably or consistently funny but it was watchable - got a few laughs out of me.

Chappelle’s newest release is out on New Year’s Eve :)

The dribbling wet behind the ears leftists are having a massive soy tear cry fest over the show, especially..

If they're so emotionally unstable (and they are) then maybe the poor wee things should stick to reading the Guardian and watching the BBC.
Imo of course :D

Well I mean with the sort of cutting repartee you've just dished out they don't stand a chance.

Still. You've got GBNews haven't you?

That's nice.

I used to be a big fan of Gervais, off the back of Office and his stint on 11 o'clock show. Extras didn't really hit for me, but I liked the podcasts with Karl, and appreciated his acerbic Golden Globes stints.

But I did try one of his comedy specials and, even as a big fan at the time, thought it was terrible. Only watched about half of it.

Since then, I've gone off him really. After Life was crap, and he's a bit of a dick.

Ha! I'm the opposite, The Office, Extras, Afterlife, Derek - think these are genius, but not a fan of his stand up at all.

Loved the podcasts and Xfm stuff, have generally enjoyed previous standups.

Turned off after 30 mins , just felt very tired, unoriginal and like a boomer trying to be edgy on Facebook.

Strange one for me this, I've quite liked his other standups, particularly the one where he reads the bible/noah story , he's always been a little "preachy" in his content but Armageddon just seemed too "preachy" and as a result I didnt find it anywhere near as funny as his previous stuff. I sat there as I watched it and thought "yes, yes I get it Ricky, can we move on now"

Name calling the disabled kid, spitting on them - that one was a bit much for me and dragged on.

If you take what Gervais does to his subject matter literally, like with most things, it takes the fun out and isn't funny.

If you take what he's saying figuratively and then apply that to the premise he sets up, he's brilliant. You have to see the world the way he does though. If you don't, you'll likely find it not funny or offensive.

I find that people find him "too much" or get offended by him, funny.

So I guess that makes me woke.
