Riddick 3

Watched the film about this time last week and thought it was okay, not terrible and had it's entertainment values - but abit too much pitch black in it (love pitch black but we have it already lol)

Just watched this weekend as well. Really enjoyed this - as a good, low-level sci-fi flick set in one of the only genuinely newly established and iconic sci-fi movie franchises of the last decade.

Did not know what to expect at all and was pleasantly surprised, in spite of the occasional tendency to "over-Diesel" which may grate with or annoy some people. What there is of substance is a well-thought plot, decent special effects, and some great moments from a reasonably entertaining film.

Would recommend on the basis of the sci-fi premise alone, which is horrendously under-subscribed in today's comic-dominated movie world.

If I'd never seen pitch black I'd probably have rated it higher but the Riddick stuff doesn't really deliver as well as in pitch black - the whole "even god doesn't want to know" stuff felt hollow whereas in pitch black if pulled that stuff off.

I do like the feel of the sci-fi universe though would prefer it if they played the necromonger thing down just a little so theres more mystery to it. Certainly hoping the next movie is good as I like the style when its pulled off properly.
