Riding Gear

Wouldn't be much stopping it riding up if you came off.

You can get loads of leather jackets these days which look like just regular jackets, plus a pair of kevlar jeans and you'll look no different from everyone else.

Yeah I've considered them before as I could then just keep it on all day in the winter. But then I reckon the armour would get uncomfortable, so you may as well just get a normal bike jacket.

I opted for a leather jacket and jeans in the end and I'll put my 2 piece zippable textile suit on in the winter or if it's particularly rainy.

To be honest once armor has settled in/moulded properly you forget it's there.

My 7ull leather/textile combination armoured pants/jacket are super comfy.

True, but the only reason I'd get hoody armour is to wear it at work as well, so you don't have to change when you get there. Wouldn't like to sit with armour pressed up against my back all day when there are better alternatives (normal hoody + proper bike jacket)!

Yeah I almost bought one. I don't mind riding in full textiles to work cause I can change when I get there but if I want to go out then I'd sorta need to wear something I can spend time in off the bike and this and kevlar jeans seemed like a good option before I realised that I don't really go out.

Yes I would.

And unless you use stuff that zips to trousers not much stopping any garment ridding up. Unless it's extremely tight.
Also depends on journeys, if it's around town then I don't mind reducing protection, never be doing high speeds then anyway.

Kevlar jeans and tops are great if you're popping to cinema, pub or similar,

What's wrong with changing at work?

It's a pain. Jacket's fine, but when you get into bottoms or having to take thermal under layers off (although I don't wear those at the moment) then it becomes a bit too much.

I strive for convenience and if I could turn up at work and sit down, I'd be happy! That being said, I guess I don't strive for it enough to give up biking :)

I'd be too worried about it riding up and getting road rash, and also not sure how thick the kevlar lining is. Wouldn't want to come off at NSL in it.

As I said in the OP it'd only be for popping into town so I can un-zip it and not melt in my leather jacket.

I would be going 3 miles along 30/40mph zones and with all the traffic lights you're lucky if you get to that LOL.

I wouldn't wear this sort of thing if I was going anywhere near NSL!!

It is free returns to SBS.com so I might try it and send back if not for me.

Basically what I was thinking, cinema, pub, mates house with out having to get fully kitted out.

I'd just wear it with my kevlar jeans

EDIT: found this on youtube.

@1min 45s it's a good job he wasn't holding the drill in his other hand else it would have ended up cutting his chin open!

It looks fairly decent for what it is but the test is less than conclusive!

For a 3 mile ride to a mates house at 30mph (less than 10 mins) I'd wear whatever I was already wearing. I'd probably chuck on a leather jacket if it was cold.

Feel free to cue the slating!

Why would anyone slate you? It's completely your choice if you don't want to wear protection.

The ATGATT brigade has a strong following in some parts of the internet.

It's not a bad thing. At 30mph you can do some serious damage. gear does not just provide abrasion resistance, but twist/impact and other protection that can cause life changing injuries.

A serious hand/wrist fracture can be something you live with for the rest of your life.

Everyone should wear ATGATT, if people do not it's their choice. Does not stop me thinking they are foolish though.
